No Wally Walk yet, but I did go into a bank. That was an interesting feeling. Well within my rights, but just felt strange.

Mine took a whole 3 weeks (15 working days) to update that they had received my paperwork. It's now showed that all of my paperwork is in and that my background check is under review since 9/14 (13 working days and counting). I get discouraged seeing a lot of you guys posting how quickly your's was processed. :confused5 Hopefully it doesn't drag out too much longer.

And for what it's worth, 9/14 was a Friday. I last checked late in the afternoon on 9/14 before I left work at 5:00. I checked back on the morning of Saturday, 9/15 and it had been updated... So they do some updates on Fridays.

Update: I checked my status today (Saturday) just for the heck of it even though I know some of you have said that they don't update in Fridays or Mondays...........AND IT SAYS BG UNDER REVIEW!!!!!!!m :hurry: :clapping: :anamatedbanana

So a couple things. I guess that means they do update on Fridays, and even late in the day. I had checked my status twice during the day, once in the am and once in the aft since Friday would mark 2 weeks since they received and most of you have said 2 weeks is the normal time for them to update. I was surprised to see it went through on a late Fri.

Second thing is this: even though it says BG under review, there is a yellow exclamation triangle next to "application: received." I assume this is just a formality since technically my app is still under review, but just double checking that my thinking is correct, is it? Everything else that should be green is green.

Can't wait for this all to go through! I've been practicing around the house (and I've been a CCW holder in a diff state before). Surprising thing is I've always carried my xd9 but I bought the wife and I matching .38 s&w and I'm actually leaning toward carrying that. It's so comfy and I don't even know its there. Am I crazy to be considering not carrying the 9 as my EDC?

First off, congrats! :clapping:

Even though it is little more than the DPS stating that they have recieved your packet, it is nice to see some progress after 2 long weeks, and to be honest after logging on every day that "Awaiting Materials" does get a little annoying.:

To answer your questions, not only do they update on Mondays and Fridays but they update on Saturdays as well, my status updated last Saturday at around 7 AM. As far as the yellow exclamation marks I'm pretty sure that is normal, checking mine right now I have 4 yellow exclamtion marks next to Application, Fingerprints, Background, and License. From what I have seen the only one that seems to differis the fingerprints, some people have the green check right after the update, and others get it when their background clears.

As for using a .38 for an EDC I would say carry whatever you are most comfortable with, in terms of both concealed comfort as well as your overall comfort in your proficiency with your weapon (because it doesn't really matter how comfortable a EDC feels if you are not confident in your skills with it). I think a .38 is an overall decent personal defense round, good enough to stop or deter most of your run of the mill BGs. I'm assuming when you say .38 s&w that you are referring to a revolver and if that is the case your main disadvantage will be ammo capacity vs your XD9.
