Can anyone tell me how long it usually takes for status to update? I did my online app on 3/3/12 and took my class on the 4th. Fingerprints done on 3/6 and mailed off the same day. Status still says waiting on paperwork. USPS delivery confirmation days it was delivered on 3/8. Is this fairly normal? Thanks in advance!!

The DPS site updated my status about 7 or 8 days after I got my return receipt in the mail. I personally believe that when the site shows an update, that step is already in progress.

it took 13 days for my first online acknowledgement/update. it seems to vary, best of luck to you

Thirteen days for mine to update on the site too. As of today, Mar. 25, is day ten in the background review. 
The laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.
