I just went through everyones posts that have a trail on when they were accepted and when they went to mailed and it seems like its been averaging 2 - 3 weeks for the BG checks to complete. If that holds true I will still be here in the same state till this time next week. Mrblonde it seems like our timelines are pretty similar as far as when we saw our first update so I'll be interested to see how it ends up. My bet is we get BG check accepted and mfg pending at the same time.

No changes as of 4:00 this afternoon. I did call this morning and was told in a most polite way to go away and leave us alone. Actually, the nice lady just told me what I already knew. My background check is under review and if they had questions they would send me a letter. She really didn't seem too interested in checking in to anything for me and thats when she suggested I call back in a week or two.

I called DPS again today with slightly different results but no further progress. Today’s representative was much less friendly and no more willing to help than the one I spoke to yesterday. She was very quick to tell me that they had 60 days to respond and I quote” It isn’t going to be any sooner and it isn’t going to be any later.” :banghead: And we all know that isn’t true.

She did let it slip that although my background check is still under review it hasn’t been assigned to a technician as of yet. Not sure what that means but apparently it is just sitting on someone’s desk waiting for someone to look at it. My plan is to call back daily and try to get a little more information each day and I hope the dude will answer the phone. From past posts I understand he is at least willing to help a little…

You could always email them too. That stinks, but I ran into the same. I don't think you can do anything to speed them up, but unfortunately you might cause them to slow down. Hang in there. :txflag:

Ok forgive me for ranting, but the more I think about this the angrier I get. Think about this... My packet was delivered to DPS on 9/2/2011. The paperwork sat there for 7 days before someone took it and entered my data into a keyboard so the system could say "hey Bill, we received your package!". So far, about 10 minutes of effort on the part of the DPS.

then someone orders a background check and enters that into the system so Bill knows the process has begun, another 10 minutes. Now, 2 weeks later absolutely nothing has been done regarding my application. Zero, zip, nada! And that's according to the DPS. It is waiting to be assigned to a technician, and until then nothing happens.

They have had it for 19 days so far and they have spent about a half hour on my application and all they can say is consider yourself lucky because we have 60 days to get it done..... And people wonder why people want to protect themselves when we are treated like this by our government? If the rest of the country knew about how the great state of Texas is processing our applications and treating citizens who are trying to exercise their second amendment rights our governor would half to retire!

"The reason there is a second amendment is incase the government doesn't honor the first!".... Rush !
