July 2011 Applications

Re: July 2011 Applications
Another July classmate here.
My wife and I took the class July 9 and we got the final paperwork mailed on Thur. July 14. We also had applied and paid online before the class.
Got the return receipt from DPS showing they rec'd it on July 18.
Followed the status on the website and even as of today - July 29 it still shows "in manufacturing" , but our plastic was IN THE MAILBOX when I got home!
Overall, 11 days isn't too bad!
I suspect the website can get behind on status updates.
No complaints here!

Nice!ComeAndTakeIt wrote:PLASTIC!!! Woohoo!!
It was sitting in my mailbox right next to my new Crossbreed. What are the odds they both come in on the same day. :)

Congrads y'all! These turnaround times are insane! Looks like I got a fast processor, as well. No plastic yet, though, so I shouldn't pull the cart in front of the horse...

Re: July 2011 Applications
Just for grins, I checked my status on the website this morning.
Still shows "manufacturing" even though the plastic is in my wallet!
Don't get hung up on the website status as you might get a surprise before it's updated.
I also think doing the application and payment online speeds the process as you're not waiting on a clerk to input the data from a mailed application.
Having a clean background check probably helps too.

6/30/2011 - fingerprints
7/9/2011 - class
7/11/2011 - mailed packet
7/15/2011 - website shows receipt
7/19/2011 - background complete
7/20/2011 - manufacturing
7/23/2011 - status changed to mailed
7/26/2011 - postmarked
7/29/2011 - plastic
Also of note, I ordered by Crossbreed IWB holster on 6/29, figuring that I would get it a couple weeks before my CHL, but they both arrived in the mail the same day. Started breaking it in this weekend!

Re: July 2011 Applications
Well checked mine today and it says manufacture pending, paperwork was turned in 07-22.
Any idea on an inexspensive IWB holster until my comes in, think they said it was about a 5 week wait, so I am thinking I will have my plastic before I have my holster.

Re: July 2011 Applications
This is my first update:
"Application : Received
Fingerprints : Not received, notice sent to applicant
Affidavits : Received
DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : No documentation required
Passport photo holder : Received
Photo : Received
Proof of Classroom training : Received
Proof of Proficiency training : Received
Fee : Received
Background Check : Under review
Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review"
Is anybody familiar with WHY the fingerprints would not be received when I am sure I included them when I mailed the packet? Has anybody had this happen to them?

As of March 11, you have to submit your prints electronically through L-1. See http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra ... ntInfo.htmCarl in Katy wrote:Is anybody familiar with WHY the fingerprints would not be received when I am sure I included them when I mailed the packet? Surprised your instructor didn't say anything about this...

Re: July 2011 Applications
Please correct me if I am wrong, friends, but under the new L-1 system, I believe they are submitted electronically. I don't think they were part of 'the package' that was mailed. I would contact the folks that did your prints and ask if they have had any problems submitting prints. At least that's where I would start...not quite 100% on this, though...maybe 80...

Yes. I did the L-1 Fingerprints. I mailed in the document I received from the office where I had the fingerprints taken. Was I even required to send that documentation in or would the fingerprints be provided to DPS electronically? Does anyone know?
