Wow. Still can not get fingerprinted. My Dad who sent his app in a day after mine has been able to. I called DPS and they said they needed to refresh it and wait 24 hours, did that, nothing, called again, wait another 24 hours, nothing, called today now wait till tomorrow.

They are adding an additional 2 weeks to the process.

Frustrating!!!

interesting update...

i returned home from vacation monday to find a letter from an attorney's office in my mailbox. opened it up and discovered that i had an unpaid speeding ticket from early 2005! i had no idea this was there and i can only assume the researching process of the CHL application caused it to surface. i've sent off the check to pay the slightly overdue fine and hope that this doesn't delay my CHL process too much.

very weird to me... ive renewed my TDL since then (2007) purchased quite a few guns and my registration is always current. wonder how this went so long without me knowing.

can anyone verify that this will need to be resolved before the CHL is issued? moreover, is there any kind of report of fines paid i should request from the JOP where the offense occurred... so that i can expedite the process?

OK, we are making progress - First Status this morning. Received documents, finger prints & BG check are "under review".

Called today and they are quoting 2-3 weeks just for data entry on mailed materials and 60 Days for completion

This may be of help to any people here in non-immigrant status. I am from the UK and am here on an H1B visa. I have already purchased my first firearm from a reputable store and my FBI check took less than 24 hours. I have always been interested in aquiring a CHL so in May, after a lot of research, I took the plunge. Any way, here is my timeline:

May 18 - Filled out Online Application
May 21 - Attended CHL Class
May 27 - Document Packet recieved by TXDPS
June 9 - Online Status shows Application Received but with an orange exclamation triangle next to it (Is this normal) Fingerprints Complete and BG Check Under Review

Hoping for a quick turnaround and will be checking the status daily

Yes. It will stay that way even after they mail you the license. Here is what mine looks like now:
