3/9/2010 - Online application
2/15/2011 - L1 fingerprints
2/19/2011 - Took CHL class (249/100%)
2/21/2011 - Mailed to DPS
3/10/2011 - Status updated
3/21/2011 - Called and was told my application was given to a technician, due to something on my background check.
4/22/2011 - Received letter asking for district and county clerk records searches in my home town/county.
5/6/2011 - Mailed in certified copies of records searches.
5/16/2011 - Pending Manufacture
5/18/2011 - Manufacturing
5/20/2011 - Mailed
5/25/2011 - Received - 91 days on DPS timeline, 100 door-to-door

Any suggestions for a good carry pistol? Ordered a Kimber Ultra RCP II about 2 months ago, can't wait another 2-4 months for it to show up.

You will get tons of answers on this (probably)
I really love the Springfield XD Subcompact in my Crossbreed Supertuck, but have carried the Taurus PT111 Millenium Pro as well
Both carry well, I do like to shoot the Springfield better and really like the backstrap safety in lieu of the manual safety on the Taurus
League City, TX
Yankee born, but got to Texas as fast as I could! NRA / PSC / IANAL
