I originally received my CHL in 2002 and it expired in 2006 before I had a chance to renew it. I could give all sorts of excuses why I didn't renew it in time, but long story short, I just didn't get it done in time.
I applied online and completed my class last Wednesday. I mailed everything to Austin via Certifed/Return Receipt via US Postal Service. Now, the wait begins.
Just curious if there is any advantage if I previously held a CHL? Doubt it but since I am now in the "Waiting Room" I would throw the question out there.
Any Advantage if Previous CHL Holder to Speed Process?

Wow...can't believe how impatient I am...tried to go to web site and all it tells me is that I paid online and they are waiting for my stuff.
Previously, it wouldn't even tell me that...it treated me as if I was applying for the first time. Then again, folks have reported problems with the web site anyways.
Found out I qualify under Glock's "First Responder Discount Program" for a nice discount and hope to get a Glock 27.

I am in the same boat. I dont think it helps having been a previous chl holder. It hasnt speeded anything up for me.

Hey....at least I can now track my application's progress online. Shows they received my packet and things are "under review".

I would recommend to anyone renewing, to start the process 3 to 4 months before expiration. I recently renewed, and it took much longer than I anticipated.
