Hooray!!!

Am now finally "in line" for my CHL. I mailed in my application (certified) on Feb 16 and it finally got there...apparently. I'm just waiting on my fingerprints (the old analogue type) and my background to go, and then we are off to the presses!

Interesting.. Apparently they have someone doing web site up dates on the weekend. Friday evening (late) was still awaiting materials, Today it shows materials received, pending finger print review, and background review. :hurry: I did an on line app and class in late Feb and they got the materals 3-1. Glad to see the progress. :thumbs2:

Background check complete, manufacturing pending. They updated on a Sunday, nice of 'em :thumbs2:

Funny though, as my status took 27 days to show receipt of materials, and 4 days later background is complete. They must be having some IT issues over there with all of the other stories I have been reading about in here.

TEXTOYS, how long ago did you submit your renewal application? Site updates have been very slow recently.

So I'm up to 41 days now and I was patient until today. Guess I have 19 more to go until I can start the whining. :grumble

You might consider firing them a quick email. Two points if you do this:

1. Your email should be short, to the point, and respectful. They may take a few days to respond, but from the brief phone call I had with one of the data entry folks, if they have to try and figure out why you are emailing them, it is going to take them longer to get back to you.
2. The reply will be short and too the point, even brusque. Don't take it personally. The data entry folks over there are pretty swamped from the email exchange that I had with them and the quick phone call that I received when I asked them about the status of my application a week or so ago.

Patience is difficult, especially when you are chomping at the bit like a kid at 5am on Christmas morning for an update or mailbox delivery (I know I still am :biggrinjester: )

Yea it looks like my 1st update was on a Monday. Not very impressed since this is Monday and no update at 1700. Guess I'll pack it in for another 7 days. No problem though, I'm pretty used to the hurry up and wait game. It was just starting to piss me off a little this morning then I got over it. On to the next forest fire.

The thing that is getting to me is I have carried my pistol for 8 years now every day. I even carry it at work.. It is just like having on my shoes, wallet or my watch.. I pray constantly that I will never have to use it.

I do not break the law and will not have it on me without the license.. I just hope that is not the time I need it...

3/9/2010 - Online application
2/15/2011 - L1 fingerprints
2/19/2011 - Took CHL class (249/100%)
2/21/2011 - Mailed to DPS
3/10/2011 - Status updated
3/21/2011 - Called and was told my application was given to a technician, due to something on my background check.

3/23/2011 - Wife's status changed to pending manufacture.
3/24/2011 - Wife's is in the mail.
3/28/2010 - Received.

I'm still waiting. I've called the past three Mondays to check status, today the guy told me that I was calling too much.
I only call because they provide better info over the phone. Calling once a week and speaking to somebody for less than 2 minutes isn't too much, is it?
