My timeline is simular to yours and I'm still awaiting the first update to the web site. I did see a couple of other threads that said they ( DPS) were swamped and had some software problems. Said it might take an extra couple of weeks to see an update

3/27/11 Received unhelpful form e-mail back to "wait longer" for status to change. They did not bother to confirm if they got my materials or not (the only reason I e-mailed them in the first place).

I wonder how long the background check will take. Several weeks again?

Minimum is 2 weeks. Depending on where you lived, what investigator receives your file, etc. It will take upward of 4 weeks. Most people have their background check completed within 2.5 - 3 weeks.

Hello all...i'm fairly new to the forum, as in this is my first post. been reading through quite a bit of topics and this whole board is filled with valuable information!

I'm anxiously awaiting receiving my CHL and thought i would chime in with my time line:

Feb. 24 – Took Class
Feb. 24 - Filled out application online
Feb. 24 – Dropped packet off at Post Office
Mar. 24 - DPS website updated to reflect only the following remaining:
Fingerprints : Under review
Background Check : Under review
Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review
Mar. 29 - Fingerprints complete
Apr. 13 - Still waiting :(

I got the update today (4/18), background check passed, so now just waiting on plastic to be made/delivered:

Bill sent my app certified on March 2nd. Because I forgot to sign one paper, I received a request & the paper to sign and return a couple of weeks ago. After all of that, it took only 53 days from time we sent the app to plastic in hand! Yay! Probably would have been here a week ago if I hadn't forgotten that one paper. This was done using the new e-fingerprint system =)

Glad to be one of the Cool Kids now :D
