I had a question I'd like to ask and get ya'lls opinions on. Anyways, DPS received my packet on 16 December. I have since received my "pin" number and have been able to see what my status was (or supposedly is). Anyways, I called today and asked if there were any issues with my packet. The operator told me everything has been received and looked fine, but "they" were looking at something I "self reported" on my app. What he was referring to was something I indicated on the "treatment" section of my app. Back in '05 I self referred myself to a program called ASAP. I was active duty Army (and serving with the 10th Mountain Division in Fort Drum, NY) at that time. "ASAP" is the Army Substance Abuse Program. A little background on that: I had just returned from Afghanistan (a couple of months prior to enrolling myself into ASAP), and had found out my ex wife had been carrying on an affair while I was gone. Anyways, I started hitting the bottle pretty hard and developed a somewhat vigorous relationship with Wild Turkey. To make a long story short, I realized it had become an issue (and a possible bad one considering I was a platoon sergeant at the time) and decided to get help for it. Anyways, I self enrolled into this Army program, got educated and stopped drinking altogether.
So, when it came time to send in my packet to DPS, I indicated that I had undergone treatment and I had successfully completed this voluntary program (I also indicated the treatment dates along with my counselors contact info). Well, I'm just wondering if any of you think this will be a problem? Like I said, this treatment wasn't directed by my chain of command and it was strictly voluntary (and I successfully completed the program). Does this sound like something that could disqualify me? Oh, and another thing. Since I was honorably discharged from the Army, I've gotten my captains license from the USCG (so I can be a fishing guide). I figure, if the issue I'm talking about was a problem, I wouldn't have gotten my captains license.
Perhaps I'm just getting antsy and just need to cool my jets. Any thoughts? Opinions would be appreciated.

Re: Question about "self reporting"...
First - Thank you for your service! Second - a heartfelt atta-boy for recognizing an issue and having the self discipline to take care of it. Awesome. Third - other than compliments and support I can't give you any info on your question. I think this one will need to be addressed by DPS. The regulation pertaining to your situation and CHL is TX Government Code 411.172(c).
An individual who has been convicted two times within the10-year
period preceding the date on which the person applies for a license of
an offense of the grade of Class B misdemeanor or greater that involves
the use of alcohol or a controlled substance as a statutory element of the
offense is a chemically dependent person for purposes of this section and
is not qualified to receive a license under this subchapter. This subsection
does not preclude the disqualification of an individual for being a chemically
dependent person if other evidence exists to show that the person
is a chemically dependent person.

Re: Question about "self reporting"...
No thanks is necessary (concerning my military service). I emailed the DPS folks with my question, so hopefully I'll hear something back from them. I'm not too concerned about it, however, I just thought it could an issue. Thanks for the info friend.
