The Wait is Over in South Texas

Mailed off 10/4/06. I sent it certified. Did the fingerprints via IDENT. Hope that works out okay. We'll see. Have mucho experience at waiting. Ordered a Yamaha FJR on Mar 20, 2003, it arrived on Aug. 25th, 2003. Waiting gives me time to practice and work on a carry rig.

Welcome STex. Practice shooting as well as carrying around the house. Find out what the best method for you will be. The time will go by very slowly. But it will go by.

Just wait, you'll be in the same boat as all of us, look at my timeline, today marks 59 days, still waiting , and i am going nuts. I will be calling or sending email tomorrow. Hang in there, I know how hard it is. Well keep you warm thru the Holidays.

Your time line is very similar to mine. I took the class on 9/9/06. Mailed it out on 9/13/06. They got it on 9/15/06. Just last week the website changed from "packet mailed to applicant" to "processing application". It has been 52 days thus far. I'm really, really ready for this waiting time to be OVER!!

Patience, gentlemen!

I had 80+ days on my wait.

But I did get it. You will too.

Like the man says, use this time to practice, and practice carrying in your home.

Makes it easier when you get the plastic in the mail...

I've been doing lots of both, however, I cant get comfortable with what I got for some reason , (need diff holster) , probably. I have 4" 1911 style and OWB holster does not work well, too heavy and IWB is ok but still prints too bad, I guess I need looser clothing. Dangit I didnt know it would be this hard. I 'll get used to it though.

I sent email on the 7th and received back a message regarding my background investigation. Wow does it really take that long for the background check? here is the return message:

We did receive your application as of now it is processing we are waiting for the background investigation to come in.

Also, check it out, yes this is the whole entire message that I received from them and no name, no thank you , no sorry, no anything of any other type. I understand they are busy but dang.

When I called about some questions right before mailing my packet I felt like I was being rushed, the lady was talking VERY fast.

Well I got home today and lo and behold an envelope from the CHL unit in Austin. I'm thinking yippee I finally got my pin #. BUT NO Its a request for my fingerprints again. What I'm confused about is that I sent my prints in electronically with the state approved FAST system. http://www.identix.com/iis/
Guess I'll call them on Monday to find out whats up.
Bummer as this thing was supposed to be approved 98% of the time.

Austin is running behind. Seems alot of people want a CHL these days. Could it be a sign of the times? I would call Austin on monday about the prints.

Got this back today (Saturday...WOW)

If you went to F.A.S.T. then they will mail you the fingerprint card and you then need to mail them to us we DO NOT get them electronically. If you have received them please mail them and the letter we sent you back

For the record I've not received anything from FAST. I did watch them upload the prints to what I thought was Austin. I will call FAST on Monday and find out whats going on. The journey continues.
