Playing the waiting game.
First time poster and sloooooooooowly working my way through the threads.
I took the CHL class in Texas City about a month ago. It was very informative. I learned stuff I had no idea about. I'm ex military so was used to guns. I had a lot of questions for the instructor in the afternoon session. After taking the test I learned I had five wrong. My only critisism(sp) would be I couldn't learn from the five I got wrong because I didn't know what the answers were?
Anyway, learning my license would last until my birthday AFTER the four years I thought I'd be slick and wait until after the 30th Sept (my birthday). If only I'd known it took so long to receive it, I could have saved myself a few weeks. Oh well, things worth having are worth waiting for.
I was going to come to the 30th shindig in Pearland but I'd made other arrangements with friends about a month earlier. I'm sure that was THE safest place to be on the planet that day. I hope a good time was had by all. I'll try and make the next one. Although I travel a lot (truck driver) anything could happen.
I've noticed in a post somewhere you can go and monitor your application status. Would anyone know the link for that? I don't know whether that would be a good thing for me to know as I would probably end up with OCD checking it so often, lol.
Anyway, thanks in advance and I look forward to reading the multitude of posts around here, and hopefully get to know you more on a personal level.

Welcome! You need to wait til you get your PIN number in the mail first. Normally takes around 30 days from the day you mailed the packet from what I've seen. Once you have that you can use the link provided by SW40VE to login. Did you take the class from Tom Estep? I will be taking his class tomorrow.

Thanks SW40VE. If I would have waited about thirty minutes longer I would have seen all the links Charles was nice enough to include on one of the boards. I've just read some horror story by gandolf and I'm not sure I want to get into checking for the CHL. I think I'm just gonna sit back and carry on as if I'm not waiting on anything. Then, if I don't hear anything in about three months I'll maybe call someone. At least that way I'll keep my sanity

Well I called the CHL department Friday Oct 20th. As yet, it's not in the system. I can't believe it's been only three weeks since I mailed that package. It feels like three months already. This is going to do my head in.

The wait to get that little piece of plastic just eats at you doesn't it. It took 78 days for me and I killed many pieces of paper(targets) while I waited.
If guns kill people, then I can blame mispelled words on my pencil
