I agree, I have seen others signatures showing 3-4 and even 8 to 9 months from packet received at DPS to receipt of license. That would be very tough!AddyLO wrote:long ago that the wait time was measured in multiple months. I don't know how they could stand it!

It already feels like a long wait, I had to ask a girlfriend to look at her license last night, she must have thought I was nuts, I finally had to hand it back to her

Re: March 2010 Applications
So what are the actual status changes shown on the DPS website as one progresses through the process?
Right now my status is "Packet mailed to applicant". I got the delivery confirmation on Monday (3/29). So sometime in the (hopefully near) future will the status change to "application received", and then "processing", etc?
In hopeful anticipation, I ordered my Crossbreed Supertuck today. I think that takes 3 or so weeks.

But from all of the other recent ones who have gotten their plastic, showed about 14 days from confirmed delivery to status changed to processing.

Re: March 2010 Applications
I'm pretty sure "Processing Application" is the final status. Once it reaches that status it never changes.
Well, at least that's been my observation so far.

The only message choices that the website can display are:
1. Packet Mailed to Applicant
2. Processing Application
3. Missing or Incomplete Information. Letter Mailed to Applicant
4. Application Complete. License Issued or Active
5. Application Rejected. Letter Mailed to Applicant
I got just 1, 2 and 4, as do most of the people who apply online. You will go from 1 directly to 2, unless there's something seriously missing from your packet, which I doubt. Hope your wait is a short one!

Re: March 2010 Applications
Thanks Joe (and others)! It seems kind of silly to not have something more informative in that list of status updates. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a 1, 2, and 4 as well. I applied as a veteran but I was never issued a DD214, so I sent a bunch of records showing my honorable discharge and some National Guard forms showing retirement points, etc. I'm guessing that could be the one thing that holds me up. In anticipation of that, I submitted a request to the National Archives for my DD214. I guess we'll see what happens.joe817 wrote:Hi HighHandicap, welcome to the forum! Re: March 2010 Applications
Mailed mine in on March 29th. I guess I did it a bit backwards, I took the class and the instructor gave us the packets to fill out. So i dont have a PIN and can't check status yet. I assume the PIN gets mailed out? anyone have an idea how long that should be?
I'm already impatient and it has been only 4 days

Re: March 2010 Applications
Mine just got updated today, they skipped the processing part it went strait from packet mailed to applicant to missing information detailed letter mailed. Go figure, no telling what I forgot but I'll be sure to let yall know so you don't make my same dumb mistake. I think instead of missing information they should just say your an idiot good luck with life you can't even mail a packet that came with a check list. Sheesh

When did they receive yours? (trying to see the time from receipt to notification changes)Travis wrote:Mine just got updated today,
I took the class, did the app in pen, then said, "hey, Id rather wait 2-3 days extra here, do it online, to be sure I did not miss anything (or hope anyway) and be certain to get my pin, as I wasn't sure when/if a PIN would be mailed.ssenniug wrote:Mailed mine in on March 29th. Mine full packet was received by DPS on March 26th, so you and I are in the same boat, waiting very (im)patiently for status changes, checking every day (ok, 3-4 times a day, just in case!)

Re: March 2010 Applications
Bet I'd have plastic by now if I hadn't screwed up my app. I'm in "Missing or Incomplete Information. Letter Mailed to Applicant" land. I received my detaled letter pointing out my stupidity Thursday the 18th, sent it back and they received it Monday the 22. I called today and they said it will show processing application again by this weekend. She said "there are just a few more things we will look at before approving your, um, or denying, your application." We'll see what happens!
My only worry is from a couple of failure to appears for traffic violations in college, but the city and county couldn't even find documentation of that.

ssenniug, yes the DPS will mail you a PIN. It usually takes a couple weeks after they cash your check. Once you receive the PIN your application should show processing. Good Luck!!!

Re: March 2010 Applications
Just joined the group and am looking forward to being active. My wife and I both took the course and have started the waiting process. It is sure good to see that many applications are being completed in 4-5 weeks as we were told in the class that we should expect 3-4 months.
