not that this is serving any self-promotion intentions given my own CHL application's sluggish progress- here are the latest stats...

How would the number of times you check a website determine if you were mentally stable? If they are tracking it could tell if you were eagerly awaiting new of your status but mental stability? I don't see how.Sasnakra wrote:- bringing up concerns regarding the mental stability of an applicant?
I check first thing in the morning, before lunch, after lunch and sometime in the afternoon. Does that make me a crazy deranged person who is going to go out and shoot 14,000,000 people, 500 politicians and 3,000 stray cats tomorrow??? No.

Re: Jan 2010 applications
Haha, I thought the same thing every time I checked, which had to be 4-5 times a day!Sasnakra wrote:Since getting my PIN and being able to check the status on-line...a question has occured to me.
Has anyone heard if the fine folks at DPS track the number of times that an applicant checks on their status?
And if they do check, how many times in any given period would be a 'red flag' as excessive to them - bringing up concerns regarding the mental stability of an applicant? Just asking...for a friend who wanted to know.
Meanwhile, I am just waiting and watching the mail (in a most normal sort of way).
Re: Jan 2010 applications

Re: Jan 2010 applications
I took my CHL class on Jan. 3, 2010. I am still waiting. I check my online status and it says processing application. It has said that for the last 2-3 weeks. I know I have a clean record. What else could the hold up be before my status changes? Austin cashed my check on the Jan. 9, 2010.

Ruger74 - I feel your pain. I know my background check won't reveal any issues or I wouldn't have gotten the security clearance I hold from the Feds. I have no idea what is holding up some and not others. Guess as long as the website still says processing application we're good.

Re: Jan 2010 applications
I received my PIN in the mail today...the letter was dated February 9th, and the enveloped was postmarked February 10th.
I had already received my PIN by requesting it via email as soon as I saw my check had been cashed, but it's nice to get the letter in the mail and see some progress. So it took me right at 14 days from mailing the packet to get my PIN via snail mail...I wonder how long until it's completed? Hopefully soon!

Guys and Gals.
Calm down! Y'all are getting your CHL's turned round 3 times quicker than those that applied last year. The DPS has 60 days in whick to turn your application around....last year it was taking over 90 and sometimes over 100 days. The hold up is almost always the local po-po doing back ground checks.
Texas DPS does seem to be getting into gear a whole lot better these days.
Stay patient.
