81 aggie - Thanks, and you've got that right. I just hope they continue to maintain a enough staff to contend with all the renewals that will start filtering in a few years.

Based upon the roll call we had a couple pages back there is probably about 4-5 guys/gals from September still patiently waiting. Or maybe not-so-patiently waiting. At any rate, hopefully theirs will be complete very soon.

I was out of town for Thanksgiving and when I got my mail this morning, my license was in the mail! 59 days for Harris county, that appears to be pretty quick. I went to Hot Wells Shooting Range for the class and they handled all the prints, photos and paperwork, so that helped move things on a LOT I bet.

Now, when and where to carry?

Class 9/23/2009
Pin 10/15/2009
License Mailed 11/24/2009
In my hot little hands on 11/28/2009

Nope...I will be here, waiting. :waiting:

I have decided I obviously have a new goal - to be the last one keeping the light on in old Sept '09! Cobwebs are starting to form in the corners. Need to get out the broom and clear the dust. Wait....I see friendly face way back in the far corner - why, it's jsimmons! Heya buddy! How's it going over there? :seeya:

I got a NEW letter back from the DPS yesterday! Yipee.....oh joy! I will begin standing by the mailbox daily awaiting my next crazy letter from their offices. I just can't wait to jump through each new hoop and traverse each new mud puddle on my way through their maze to the right to legal defense of my own life! :thumbs2:

Yesterday's letter was a return of my TR100 - which you will all remember has this student certificate number stamped in red in the top left had box. Seems this number, which is stamped obviously by a printer designated by the DPS, is BEING USED BY ANOTHER APPLICANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad5

Ok...so DPS takes these forms, which all have a unique number. Each of these numbers is then to be assigned to an individual licensed instructor. If these student certificate numbers are indeed unique - only one printed with this number! - and assigned to only one instructor, who in turn issues one to each student who passes their class, HOW ON GOD's GREEN EARTH CAN THERE BE TWO PEOPLE USING THE SAME STUDENT CERTIFICATE NUMBER???????????? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Ok......now that the wall is sufficiently bloodied, anyone have an idea here??

:blowup

Since this is the THIRD letter from the DPS (why can't they send them all at once and spare me the misery??), maybe this one is the last? As they say, third time is a charm.

What is disgusting is I held onto my app for about a week after everything was complete making sure I had everything in order. I came back to this forum every day during that time and even had someone else check and check again for me! I wanted to avoid this situation.

So, to date, the letters I have are as follows:

Letter #1: Wrong form - took class 8/22 and CHL100 was sent by DPS to my instructor. State made a mistake - reissued CHL100's and new form sent to me. Need to send new forms to DPS. (same for Hubby)

Letter #2: DPS didn't like notary stamp. Notary stamp was raised seal with commission exp date on left hand side of page and notary signature. Notary stamp on right side of page traditional notary stamp with exp date in ink. Notary signed under and also hand wrote exp date of commission. Overkill...but she notarizes criminal court testimony so guess that is how they do it. Mine is rejected and I have to get new forms re-notarized. (Hubby's flies through with no problems even though things were done identically.)

Letter #3: Seems there are two of us with the same state issued student certificate number on our state issued CHL100's. What to do now????

Pardon my rant, but this is just crazy. I know there are other folks out there who are waiting as well and I feel their pain. I am really trying hard not to be "this is all about me", but my gosh, anyone else have stupid DPS stories they would like to share?? Anything to help pass the time....and maybe give us a laugh??

You've been identified as a paperwork trouble-maker. Now that you've ended up on their list, it's going to literally take an act of congress to get your license.

I feel lucky compared to you because I've only received ONE letter. I'm hoping my status changes this week...

Wow ES4Me that is SOME luck you have. Maybe they already assigned you the number, and now they think someone else has the same number too, when really it's you? :biggrinjester:

Have you tried calling DPS about this yet?
