Does anyone know why it takes so long for DPS to move to the "processing" stage after receiving your packet?
Took class, paid fees, changed my mind. I want constitutional carry.

Hello CHL people, new guy here.
took my class on the 19th of Sep (100%)
shot on the 20th of Sep (Score 250)
FINALLY found someone that does prints after 4pm... (88 mile round trip, in a nice thunderstorm)
mailed package on the 22nd of Sep.... (with DD214 ...within 365 of retirement...)

wondering if my prints were as good as they could have been...?

i guess now i join the waiting room... :woohoo or should i say :waiting:

from what i am seeing in the other post, 60 days seems to be the average. so, i'm hanging out here.

OH, for the record, my carry piece is a Beretta PX4 SC 9mm, for all around and warm weather,
my other is the 92FS that is a smooth shooter that i'm fond of, just a little big/heavy to lug around unless i just want too.

anyway, we're making Stephenville Tx our new residence, 2.5 months back in Texas... happy as a clam. :txflag:

This is my husband's 105th day waiting!!! On the phone they told him they were printing his license but his DPS page still says processing application. Poor guy.......we're in mourning around here. I sure hope I'm not one of those few that get their's back in a flash! That might hurt his feelings!

CHL Lady -

I too still see "processing application" even though I got the answer below from an e-mail from DPS on Friday -

"The license has been printed. You should receive it within 1-2 weeks"

You can read my signature on my wait time.

Good luck to the hubby! :tiphat: :coolgleamA:

Thanks for that reply..... It helps to hear stories about what things go on with the DPS. We're encouraged after 105 days for him that even though your DPS application status online may still say "processing" that real progress may really be being made!

This week will be 30 days for me. I still don't have a pin number. We saw our instructor at the range Saturday and he said when you need answers to get in touch with them. He said they may get a little touchy with you but they are to be reminded that we as applicant's haven't caused this problem.

We'll see......thanks for sharing with us.

I thought it was about two weeks, but it's anybody's guess I suppose (some are saying four weeks on average). They've had mine for 12 days as of today.

From what I've seen it could take up to 4 weeks for the status to change to "processing". As I understand it when it arrives at DPS it is part of the backlog, when someone actually starts working on it the status will change. Mailed mine a little over a week ago, been checking the status every day even though I know it won't change for a while. Just playing the waiting game :totap: At least this forum is helping to make the wait bearable :thumbs2:
