September 2009 Applications
I'll be taking my CHL class next Saturday (09/12) and mailing my application on 09/14, but I applied/paid online on 09/01.
I'm trying to decide what pistol to take to the class - my XD-40 or my 1911...

Took class, paid fees, changed my mind. I want constitutional carry.

Hi jsimmons. Welcome to the forum! I'd say take the one that you are most comfortable with and the most accurate one. If it's still a toss up, take the gun that uses the least expensive ammo?

Re: September 2009 Applications
My dad passed the proficiency test with his 1911 after losing his front sight five rounds in. Even outscored me by a point. So it has that going for it, which is nice.jsimmons wrote:I'm trying to decide what pistol to take to the class - my XD-40 or my 1911...
If I had a gun for every ace I have drawn, I could arm a town the size of Abilene.

Re: September 2009 Applications
Comfort is about the same for both pistols. Ammo cost is about the same too. I think I'll go with the 1911.

Re: September 2009 Applications
Just to give you some hope, things are moving along so far. I emailed DPS for my pin yesterday 9/8/09 and within a few minutes got it back, I am in processing. I spoke to one of the state employees and she said; the main delay in getting the CHL is the influx of applications since the beginning of the year. She also said that there is some delays on getting the information back from the counties especially from counties like Harris (Houston). Wouldn’t you know it that is where they need to verify some of my info.
