I guess theres nothing to do but wait until tomorrow. Im already in class til 9. Well, I've only called a couple times and emailed them once. Maybe it'll show up via USPS tomorrow and the Fedex tag was a coincidence.BrianSW99 wrote:Postal mail is their default delivery method unless you've been vocal with calling DPS or contacting elected officials.Kinetikz wrote: Did anyone received their CHL via USPS?

So Mad at Fedex right now.
So apparently, for the past 2 days, they've been attempting to deliver my CHL to ANOTHER HOUSE....
Apparently the second time they figured it out... so they attempted to deliver here today... at 1:45pm
I asked the Fedex lady what the address on the package was, and she told me, and it was correct... so I asked her why they were attempting to deliver it somewhere else for 2 days?
She had no answer...
Another problem. They sent it Adult Signature (21+) Required. Why? I don't know. They don't send drivers licenses that way, do they?
Everyone that works in this house works 7-4. They left a door tag that says they'll try to deliver <3pm tomorrow... also, noone will be home then.
So I called them, and said "I'll just pick it up"
"Oh, well, the driver isn't schedueled to arrive back at the facility until 8pm, and they close at 8pm..."
"I'll be there at 7:30.. and I'll wait."
Aargh...
OMG
I have that heart sinking feeling. On Monday a whole bunch of packages came for my sister. They were her books she order online. There was also a Fedex tag with no information on it besides a track number. I didn't think anything of it and gave it all to my sister. It just hit me that that was probably for me. She said she probably threw it away. Am I screwed now?

Re: April 2009 Applications
I've been compulsively, some may say obsessively, checking my status with the DPS twice a day (sometimes more). I checked, as I always do, this morning at work, "processing..."
I got on tonight, as my compulsive behavior dictated, and what did my eyes spy?
"Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"
Now to wait by the mailbox like so many others before me and you know who you are.

Finally, after 151 days
"Application Completed - license issued or certificate active.
I guess a few more days won't be that bad waiting on the plastic

Re: April 2009 Applications
GAH!
So that package WASN't my CHL. It was something I wasn't expecting back for a bit.
GG Colt on their Fast turnaround times for Recalls and Repairs!
It was my Combat Elite! Back from the factory, all shiney and new with it's new safety
It just happened to ship on the exact same day as my CHL supposedly was shipped.
Which means though, that I STILL don't have mt CHL yet
*Proceeds back out to Forward Operating Base** "Mailbox" for day 4.
**Camp Mailbox has been upgraded to a FOB due to additional equipment and supplies having been delivered, and a tactical Fedex Pickup mission being run from it.

I submitted my app about the same time as you did and (like you) I check every day and (like you) checked this morning and the status was "processing". Your post encouraged me to check once more time - and (like you) "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active". What took you so long to get OUR CHLs issued?

Re: April 2009 Applications
I did the exact same thing this morning and you know what? The exact same thing DID NOT happen . I'd love to believe the people that called and emailed me last week, but hey I have no plastic to show for it AND my status check still says "Processing Application".dlcrouch wrote:geekwagun wrote:I've been compulsively, some may say obsessively, checking my status with the DPS twice a day (sometimes more). If what those kind folks said last week is true - I will have plastic before my status changes (hoping anyway).
Oh and to answer your question - Bureaucracy!

Re: April 2009 Applications
I received this letter from the DPS after sending a letter to the Governor's office.
The Department is in receipt of your e-mail to the Governor’s Office regarding your application for a concealed handgun license. We regret the delay in processing you license. During the time your application was submitted, we received an unprecedented increase in applications; we received an average of 12,700 applications per month through the first six months of 2009, compared to an average of 8,700 applications per month for 2008. The bureau hired over 50 temporary employees to assist in alleviating the backlog. Thanks to those individuals, we are now back to the point to entering new applications into the system as they arrive.
We regret the inconvenience this may have caused. Our records indicate that your license was mailed on August 29, 2009. It is our hope that you receive your license by September 10, 2009. If you have not received the license or if you have any further questions please feel free to contact Jan Coffey, Manager, Concealed Handgun Licensing Bureau at jan.coffey@txdps.state.tx.us.
Sincerely,
Steven C. McCraw
Director
