I mailed mine in on March 13 and my application is STILLLLLLL being processed. This is wayyy beyond ridiculous!!! thank you Harris Country Background Checkers!! I email and call the tx dps and harris county atleast twice a week but it appearantly has done no good :( I cant stress to you enough as to how incredibly frustrated I am. Anybody else in my position? anyone else had trouble with Harris County BCs?

Yes. Check out the General texas discussion forum page here. There is a down load that Mr. Cotton set up. Put in your info and send it certified. He told me that it would take about 7-10 days to get your license. :rules:

Good luck I'm sending mine today.

So just got off the phone with DPS after encroaching upon day 150. Since May 15th my status has been "we are waiting on background check"....Surprise surprise the background check came back today....she indicated that was what they were waiting on but she seemed surprised it was back. She couldn't tell me when it was going to printing but indicated that was the next step. Probably a couple of weeks.

144, still waiting on DPS to call me, as to why Galveston County has not finished my BG. Office of Craig Eiland told them to. I doubt I will get the call. What gives? I am thinking more and more about that denial letter already saved on my desktop. I have a good solution though. Fire everyone and hire new.

Rovin_htx,

You need to e-mail your state rep. Give him your app number and tell how long you've been waiting. I e-mailed my rep on August 7 and got my license on August 14. Worth a try.

I did that three weeks ago. I contacted both state reps and got two calls from DPS in a ten min. time span. Both told me we are waiting on your background check. So the state rep's seem to be losing their pull.

Yep, some reps seem to be doing great. Some reps just don't seem to care (like mine).

I have sent an email to my state rep - no reply. I went by the district office - no-one there. Can't get any help from her - guess who I won't be voting for next time! :mad5

Sent application March 9th
Got PIN April 9
have gotten no mail, no license yet.

There seems to a wide dispairity on the dates that licenses are being issued. A friend has had his application in since February and still no license. Do they have more than one part time employee working on these?

Uncle Dave

Just found out that the license is being printed August 18th :banghead:

I called office of Craig Eiland last week. I was told DPS told them that they would call me and tell me why they are "still" waiting on my BG for Galveston County. DPS never called last week. I have been attempting to call DPS today, the lines stay busy. I called office of Craig Eiland again. I was told, they received a note this morning that DPS would call me "today'. Well their office closes in less than an hour, and I am still waiting on my phone call. 145!

I got tired of waiting and tried DPS one more time. Finally got through. I was more stern with them than i usually am. Of course, they gave me the same answer as always, "Hurricane Ike." Uh, that was almost one full year ago, they are either lying or the employees doing the BG for Galveston County are just a bunch of lazy slackers. :mad5 I hope they read these posts too! I know I sound a little imature, but I need it off my chest. Many of you understand. They also said they cannot send me a letter of denial without getting a BG on me first. Let me know, how sending the appeal letter goes, because I am so tempted to send it now. By the way, why is it nobody seems to know the people who actually do the BG? We should start calling or mailing them. My next step before the appeal letter I think, will be to write a formal letter to Eilands office, telling great detail. Oh, and the lady on the phone at DPS said "well, here's the deal, sir" in a very rude voice and almost screamed at me giving the explanation.

the "mail wait" can be even worse than the 141 day wait .
but at least you know its coming .
it shouldn't be but a few days .

Congrat's Texxas guy. I just sent off my form letter, drafted by Mr. Cotton. To appeal my CHL denial by law.

He told me that once they receive it I should have my license in 7-10 day's :rules:
I hope it works.

Day-153 and waiting.
