Are Some Inked Finger Prints Accepted?

As I have read the posts about rejected inked finger prints, it makes me wonder if DPS still accepts inked prints? Has anyone recently received their license who had also sent inked prints?

Gosh I sure hope so! I sent my f.p. cards in with inked prints a few days ago.

I'm sure the vast majority of us here has done the same.

I just put my wife's second set of inked fingerprints in the mail this morning. The original set was rejected from a June 20, 2009 CHL class. The guy that did her prints has been doing ink prints since 1996 and had a very low rejection rate (<1%) until the June 20 class, where almost all have been rejected.

We will see what the second attempt does. (And I'm glad I already have my CHL and not playing the waiting game.)

Mrs. Oldgringo and I took the class together, shot together and were fingerprinted together by the same guy using the same inkpad. I had my plastic some 60 days later. Mrs. Oldgringo received her plastic some 160 days later after having submitted her fourth (4th) set of fingerprints.

Did mine the same years and both were ink pads. What other method is there? Scanning? Doesn't seem like this would get as much of the print.

There is an electronic method (scan) for fingerprints. Last year my wife had to have that done because she is a school teacher. I think if this second set of ink prints gets rejected, we may go that route and see if the scan method gets rejected.

Mrs. Oldgringo's Fourth (4th) set of prints were done by F.A.S.T which sometimes (?) seems to be the preference of the CHL examiners.

My whole class was inked in DFW. They have a lady doing the inking who has done it at Dallas Co. for years.

Now as to my license, well, they say I am in 'final review' whatever that means.

But yes, they do still take ink if they are done correctly by someone who knows how to do it.

we had over 60 people in my class .
it took the guy almost the entire class period to get them all done .

i was one of the first few . im sure by the end he was starting to get sloppy .

I don't know what is going on with rejected fingerprints...but I have to wonder if the DPS is trying to discourage the use of the old "ink method".

I have been using the same instructor for 12 years and have sent countless friends and family members to him with NEVER an incident until the last year or so. Now.....fully half the people I send there either have fingerprints or photos rejected.

Nothing has changed that I can see (on this end). Very odd and frustrating!

Kind of what I was reading in all these posts. Not good news ... fully half. Well, at the least, if this is a new practice, it will reduce the workload for DPS.

I sent ink fingerprints in with my app in October 2008. My instructor who also was the one taking my prints regrettably admitted that DPS could very well request another set (he said I wasn't relaxing my fingers enough as he was rolling). Luckily they went through without a hitch. I would think it would probably be beneficial to get the digital ones to give DPS one fewer excuse. Just IMHO, of course. I plan to do this for my renewal. Then again, when I'll be up for renewal in a few years I'm sure everything will be digital by then.
