Your application has already been looked through at this point and most of the time they are only waiting on background checks. The only thing that can delay that two weeks now is a screwup from the printer. From my experience and what i have seen the only thing that holds up DPS is background checks and they are normally right on once they get them back.
Mine was sent to print on Wednesday the 8th and was Application Complete/Mailed sometime between Wednesday evening(the 15th) and Friday about noon when I checked again, so it was out to the printer eight or nine days. That was a little better than two to three weeks to print as I have read.

164 days so far, just waiting on the mail now. I see a lot of people on here very impatient at less than 90 days, if they have another two or three months to wait they are going to drive themselfs crazy. I didn't start checking status till well after a hundred days.

Just got off the phone with a nice lady on the phone with DPS about my application she said FBI background check has come back and just waiting on Harris County. Every time I check my status online when I feel like a kid opening presents on Christmas day when you fill in your DL and pin and then when I see processing application its like that present is full of clothes.

So, if Harris county hired 35 more people to do back ground checks, things should go 35 times faster. Correct? Or does this give the one back ground checker 35 more people to play golf with? Because it seems if 35 more people were hired, we would be seeing more Harris county applications being approved. :rules:

By my count I am now at day 104, many less than some on this board, but much longer than it should take. Last week sent an e-mail to my state rep., followed by a phone call with is staff. I just received a call from the DPS stating that the delay was due to the Harris county (can you believe that :banghead: ) BG check. Everything else is good to go. He first said that it should all be completed in 2 to 3 weeks and that additional staff in Harris county had been brought on board to help alleviate the slow response. As we continued the conversation he said he could not promise, but all should be done in 3 to 4 weeks (note it has now grown by an additional week). I pushed the issue that my employer was located in Harris not me, I live in Orange county, he said that by statute they had to do a back ground check there. This opened the door for a question about 90 day denial (by statute), he responded with that was only for applicants with criminal backgounds, not waiting on a background check!

Do these folks think they are dealing with complete idiots? "rlol" "rlol"

Very similar to my experience two weeks ago. Although the tech working on my application called me, informed me that my background checks were not completed (the BIG three here - Brazoria, Galveston, and Harris counties), and questioned whether or not I redid my fingerprints as was needed (sent in over a month earlier). She told me to call back in two weeks and she would definitely have much more information for me.
I called this morning, she said they were still waiting on BG checks (she thought, but she would check), and that she had to verify some information from another person. When she had a chance to do that, she would call me right back. I haven't heard anything back yet. Just as a FYI, the person's initials I am dealing with is M.D. and the number I call goes directly to her desk.

I think one of their major problems is that they have too many people working on the same applications - this person does this, and that person does that sort of thing. Everybody seems to be having to check on what someone else needed to do. Maybe if they just assigned an application to "A" person and that person was the only person to do everything necessary with that application things would go a little smoother (oh, yeah - sorry, I forgot we were talking about a government agency here).
None-the-less, again I only know when they cashed the check - we're officially at day 90 here (but who's counting).
All 35 new hires for harris county are working on them at the same time and they all think the other person will complete it...:
