Called DPS this afternoon to see how it was going. Their response was that they are waiting on background checks from Brazos County still. I know everybody is impatient, but Brazos Co. is nowhere the size of Harris. I'm stepping off the box now.

Also, does anybody know this answer. I have posted before that I had a Disorderly Conduct for fighting in front of my house as a sophomore at Baylor which was dismissed because of self-defense. Also, same year had a Public Intoxication that was also dismissed. I talked to a county clerk and they said that I would still have a criminal record because I didn't get them expunged, and that most likely I would be denied because of a violent background. Is that true and should just discount this whole process of waiting.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.
Dismissed is dismissed as far as CHL is concerned.
You either have to have been Convicted, or taken some sort of Deferred Adjudication bargain to be ineligible.

Well that is what I wanted to hear. It is always nice just to be affirmed because when I was told that it just made me depressed.

If it was a conviction and has been 5 years are longer you should be good to go unless it's DV.

"Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"

Took just under four months, including the Medical Advisory Board. Be honest, fill out all the forms and you'll get it.

I worked hard for this one :txflag:

Having checked the DPS website for the millionth time in the past two weeks, I spent a few minutes on hold this morning to get the scoop. The gentleman I spoke with was most helpful, friendly and curteous.

Good news is my 2nd round of fingerprints went through with no problems. :clapping:
Bad news is DPS is still waiting on Harris County to do it's thing. :mad5

Good news is that the end is in sight. :anamatedbanana
Bad news is that the end is about another month, per the gentleman's best guess. :waiting:

Anyone know who to contact in Harris County about cranking up the speed on the application processor a few notches? Local County Commissioner? Justice of the Peace? Dog Catcher? :banghead:

Thanks,
Q

93 Business and Counting, WAITING Patiently (Trying) I check in each day, " Prossesing Application" I've E/mailed Once, Called a few times, Each 2nd of the month plus, Same Excuse "Gulf Coast Area Background Check" I believe I read there is One Person doing these App's in this area, I wonder if it is just sitting on a shelf, also What kind of order, if any is there.
Ordered a Crossbreed Supertuck holster, 5/28, told it would take 3 weeks, received it 6/8, That's Kool, don't think I'm gonna keep it, the clips are too long and are exposed, otherwise I like it.

Cman,

We don't count 'business days' because the law doesnt specify 'business days' in regard to processing times, it just specifies 'days'.
We count just plain days. Might want to adjust your number in that case :)

new here just wanting to help you guys out. I mailed my stuff sometime around the end of feb, dont remember. Pin letter says april 6th. I got the completed/active message on the texasonline site either today or yesterday (didnt check yesterday). so i would imagine im right at 90 days total. I've lived in Travis Co since Jan of this year, otherwise I lived in 2 different counties in north carolina. Hope this helps you guys out on your wait.
