While waiting I decided to upgrade from my 9mm and went and bought a Taurus .40 because the 1911 was just a tad out of my price range by about 50 bucks :(

Now I have to find ammo because the only kind they have around here is 9mm no 40 or 45's

Ah, maybe that's what happened. It says processing now.

Hello everyone. I've been "lurking" as you call it for some time now, mainly monitoring the February applications as a general reference as to how long I might expect before I receive my "license issued" message via the D.P.S. website (If you're curious, the average time from packet sent to application complete for 11 individuals in Feb. was 75 days). I took my class in late Feb. myself - however, I took my sweet time in making sure all my paperwork was in order - I figured it would have been a terrible thing to rush my documents to the mailbox. I went over it many times to assure myself everything was straight. I went so far as to obtain certified copies of judgment for my class C misdemeanor offenses as suggested by the paperwork to possibly expedite any background checks - but mainly as to show the processors I have nothing to hide. I ended up mailing my packet off March 5th. I received my PIN via regular mail the 7th of April - 33 days from the time I sent it off.

It's only been 64 days since I sent my packet off. I have not and will not be pestering the Regulatory Licensing Bureau with unnecessary e-mails or phone calls/voice messages. It is in my best knowledge that this will only slow the process. I'm aware how backed up things are and am not about to be responsible for clogging the "system" even more. I won't be informing my representative of my situation either. From my observations thus far these tactics don't do squat. I suggest others follow suit. I know it's tough as hell waiting, but all we can do is let them work through the stack. It's simply incredible/mind-numbing how many applicants there are for 2009. The only task the workers need to be spending their time on is processing applications - not responding to complaints.

I've been spending my time waiting; by shooting as often as I possibly can as allowed by my income, reading informative text on the art of pistolcraft - Massad Ayoob is a real smart guy who everyone could learn something from - learning the law, buying holsters, etc... I also ended up getting a Kahr P9 (A hot commodity apparently - been looking for one a while.) put on hold by my local gun shop for my summer CCW. It's getting damn hot here and my full size CZ-75B and Kramer IWB #3 in cowhide are meant for cooler weather. My advice to everyone who's having a hard time waiting (I know for a fact many of you have been waiting longer than me.) is to simply stay as busy as possible and do the things you enjoy. It will come! Good luck! :patriot:

P.S. I'll keep you guys posted on any changes regarding the status of my application.

Latest update for me, they received my app on March 25th, Friday May 8 it switched to processing application, so I'm finally in the system. Now another long wait begins...

I guess their website has no further updates until there is a problem or application complete? Be nice if they had some generic update messages or step 2 of 8 or something so you knew how things were going...

I called DPS today just to see were my application status was. They are still doing a background check. Most likely because I had a previous address located in Florida. So there is some extra time involved here. :yawn
