I can't believe it.

Several times a day for the past few weeks, I have dutifully gone to the DPS site and checked my status. Even last night I got the same old "processing application" message. Sigh...

I guess they must have been working this weekend. I just checked and received the much sought after "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" message. Just to be sure, I checked three times and got the same message! Hopefully, it's not another computer glitch.

From mailing to the application on January 26, to May 2, with one hiccup (my fault) in the process. a total of 96 days. I went into processing again on March 18, so this is well under the 60 days for the resubmittal. From what I've read posted by others, probably not too bad... Now it's up to the USPS.

Yep, it's there. I just cleared my browser cache and checked again. Still shows application completed!!!

My wife and i took the class on Jan 25, Appreceived on Jan 27th. I submitted 2 more sets of fingerprints on March 01 and April 3rd.
Applications are still being "processed." I e-mailed a request for status this evening after seeing some successes for January "graduates"...Hope we're next!!!

Posting for my GF

Ms. XXXXX-

Representative Bonnen has had many complaints about the delay in
processing CHL licenses. Hurricane Ike caused many reports to be late.
The agency has also had many more applicants than usual, which has
increased the backlog. However, work is being done to speed up the
process. If you would like to give me your personal information, such
as your application number, I will be glad to contact DPS on your
behalf. I will also need a phone number in case there is a problem
they need to discuss with you.

Subject: CHL License DPS Delay of application

Message:
Dear Representative Bonnen;

I'm sure that I am not the first person to come to you about the extraordinary
delays being encountered by Texas citizens who are trying to obtain a
CHL. Today, I confirmed with the DPS they received my application in
excess of 80 days ago. I received my Pin number on 4/21/09 during my weekly email
request for information. At this time the DPS website shows my
application as processing. Could you please contact the DPS and ask them what the
general holdup is on the application processing that everyone is
complaining about. And assist in insuring that the department be held accountable for following
the same laws we are more than happy to comply with.

Yours truly,
