Post by brad2501 »

I sent my application in before the first of the year and had a delay (but I dont know how long it took to be resolved). Its now been about 80 days.

Has it been long enough that im not just being impatient to call and check the status and call my rep, or what do yall think?
Class taken 12/6
Packet Sent 12/30
Processing Application: 2/6
Delay-- Instructor number didn't match with who the TR100 was assigned to.
4/20- Told by DPS that my 60 days restarted 3/21

If they could make it around the world in 80 days, then surely they shgould be able to get a CHL license issued. ;-)

I would call them. You are well past your time. :thumbs2:

Dang :mad5

She said my 60 days started over officially on march 21. I think my delay was taken care of before then, but the letter was lost for almost a month before I called and returned my tr100 on the 21rst.

I guess I just have to keep waiting. She said all that I needed was the background check, but who knows.

Will it do any good to call my rep since my time started over?

I sent emails to my rep Wayne Smith and Senator Mike Jackson this morning.

I got a call back from someone in Mike Jackson's office this afternoon. We had a nice little chat, and she said that she would call DPS and check on my application right after we got off the phone. Hopefully I will get some progress and they will speed along my background check.

So, if an app gets kicked back, the 60 day clock re-starts?

:banghead: :waiting: :mad5

It's enough to make a preacher swear...

I guess my clock re-starts as of 4/3/09, then.

Q
Texas CHL received 07/24/09 and being used daily.

Yes apparently the 60 days starts over. To me, its just an excuse for the process to take longer.

Someone from DPS called me back and basically told me im out of luck. :mad5

That my application didn't start getting processed until they had everything in. It just annoys me that it wasn't my fault, but a mixup between instructors. They are happy to go ahead and take the money right off the bat, but won't start proccesing until everything is in.

Looks like I'll have at least another 30 days before my 60 is up.

Your application starts when is says processing from the DPS...Not when they receive your application. The applications usually sits in a pile for 30 days. That is what happen to mine. I mailed mine on Feb 2nd, processing began on March 2nd. DPS changed status to issued/received on April 13th, license in hand on April 17th. Now that is providing you don't run into any problems....

Good luck, I know the wait sucks.... :banghead:

I starting to regret NOT CALLING SOONER. My fingerprints kicked back after 6 weeks, had them re-scanned, and then they kicked back again after another 6 weeks. (3 sets to date)

At that point, I wrote up the problem and hand-delivered it to my State Rep. Actually was contacted by the DPS within 2 days telling me "they would try to expedite it". I think the issue here is that they MUST call when a Rep badgers them. But they apparently don't HAVE to do anything except acknowledge the call.

(BTW, everyone at DPS is always very cool and polite, so I stay that way too)

But 3 weeks of "expediting" time has past, so I once again contacted my own Rep yesterday, and taking advice from the Forum, also contacted Joe Driver, who is not my Rep but the author of the Campus Carry Bill. A few folks here advised that he's a man who can get things going. I'm hoping that a second round of calls from Reps will get something started.

My clock is at 120 days now, and with the only thing wrong was the clarity of my fingerprints ( I'm 70 years old ), I have to beleive 3 elctronic scans should have solved the problem.

This is good to know in case Senator Shaprios office gets push back from DPS.

I'm waiting for a return call right now. And boy did the lady at DPS not like hearing I was calling my Senators office.

thanks!
