"No application or license/certificate active."
No - didnt click on the instructor login. I did double check.
Just got off the phone with DPS and the nice lady stated that the app was entered on 3/11 and that it is now 60 days from that date to get the plastic. So it looks like the 90 days is the norm if it takes 30 days just to get entered into the system.
Maybe the site will update when someone else looks at it, who knows. It really would be nice if they had a more informative system. Seems like it would cut down on all the calls and emails if they could more clearly describe where you are in the process. The ambiguity really hurts them.

Re: February Applications
I'd rather they focus on the pending applications, and hire more processors for applications than waste money on updating the online db. In a perfect world w/out a backlog, THEN make the system more efficient. Its really hard to "fix" a system in production w/o a lot of testing and mistakes that might delay ours more! Maybe the open holster bill will finally get voted on and all this would be pointless, yea, thats my crazy wish.dimbulb wrote:It really would be nice if they had a more informative system. Ok, so lets compromise and ask for both!ikishk wrote:I'd rather they focus on the pending applications, and hire more processors for applications than waste money on updating the online db.

Re: February Applications
The statutes use terms like "the 30th day", not "the 30th business day".
Re: February Applications
Talked with a member at church last night. She put her paperwork in to DPS "somewhere around" December 16 and she's had her plastic already since the end of February. They are Harris County, too. This was without phone calls, etc. (no disrespect to those who have made calls...just telling her story), so that's <90 days total - and that included things like Christmas, New Year's, MLK, Columbus Day, etc.
So, perhaps there is hope that the log-jam has broken up just a bit.

Got my PIN today but it doesn't allow me to login completely. I get this message:

A friend of mine just got his CHL, he took the class on Nov.11 and yesterday 2/12/2009 he found out that his CHL is in the mail. That is pretty quick.
That doesn't sound all that quick to me considering they have 60 days to issue. They have done a pretty good job of lowering expectations by doing a bad job when people start to feel that 90 days is pretty quick.
Only problem with your supposition is that the person you're replying to didn't tell you how long it too the guy to SEND the paperwork. We've heard people come in here saying, "I took the class 6 months ago, but just haven't sent in the paperwork...."
One can only suppose based on the information provided -- including the frequency with which people are receiving plastic in 90 days or so. What was provided leads one to believe that 3 months is to be viewed as pretty quick. If that supposition is accurate, that does not seem very quick to me. If more information is provided that explains why it is quick, my supposition will change (for this one circumstance at least).
I also have a co wrker who Just received his and it took him 72 days to get ghis plastic in hand. I still feel this is better than waiting 7-8 months like my next door neighbor waited. If I get my plastic in less than three months I will consider that fast, even if you are supposed to get it in less than 60 days. I should have done this a long time ago but I just kept finding reasons not to go. If I would have done this 5 years ago I may have received it in the 60 day time fram that everyone is saying we should get them in. I dont think its a bad jod they are doing as far as getting them out to us, I feel its a lot of people who just finnaly woke up and said I better do this now before something changes. I also feel that if the goverment wants to take them away they will, so we should all get more involved in whats going on as far as guncontrol. I have also joined the NRA. The NRA has a very good web site that will give you some very important news about whats going on in other states and the one we live in. Anyway I feel that enough rambling. I saw my post caused some disscusion about how long its taking so I just wanted to comment back. Hope we get our CHL's quick and lets all keep an eye out for the bad guy and watch over all the good guys. Hope we never have to use them but hope if we do there are other CHL brothers and sister around if we do.
