Chl Class on 1/17/09
Mailed application on 1/24/09
Package received at the DPS on 1/25/09

Just waiting. CHL class was taken from Tom Estep and Daughter. Total enjoyed the class.

3/14/09 - Application was in a holding pattern, because they need to have a copy of my birth certificate and passport. It is now back in processing status.
4/24/09 - Sent emails to state reps. Received reply from Cheif of Staff for the House Rep. He contacted DPS said that background checks were in process.
5/7/09 - Call DPS to findout status again after looking on line to see Processing Application. Response from DPS is "Background Check in process, due to large number of applications it's taking longer then normal". I guess this is the standard response. My brother received a call from the person at the DPS that he contacted and he will be receiving his plastic in 7 days. I contact the same person at DPS left voice message. Hopeful they can help me. It's bee onver 100 days.

5/17/09 - Send another email to state rep Chief of Staff. He replied back that he had contact the person at the DPS and they were going to have their supervisor contact the harris county person to find out why it is taking the back ground check so long to get done. They had sent this off in March. Hopefully I will hear something back in the next couple of weeks.

6/10/09 - I did receive my plastic around May 28. Finally... :woohoo

I should have come here first. I think I screwed up. I mailed off my packet Jan 21. I didn't realize the pin # they gave me was important and the only copy was on my application. I sent an e-mail to DPS, hopefully they will read it and re-send my PIN#.

edit: DPS sent my pin today, status : packet mailed out to applicant...I suppose that means they haven't logged it in yet?

2-14-09 Edit: just checked and now it says:Processing Application

I emailed DPS yesterday for my PIN. They responded within a few hours and gave me one. Problem was I couldn't log in. So I called, and apparently I gave them the wrong number (I thought it was my account number, but it was really something else). Anyway, this number I gave them was SOMEONE ELSE'S account #, and they emailed me that persons PIN - what attention to detail on their part. Either way, my DL# and SSN did not bring anything up in their system. They said applications are taking 3-4 weeks to be entered into the system....

I sent my application in from Brazoria county at the first of Jan. I did not register on line and never received a tracking number. Has anyone else experienced this?

As I said before, it is taking the DPS 3-4 weeks to even get your application into the system.

Ok, it has been three weeks since DPS received my completed paperwork along with a cashier's check for the fee. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning (read impatient). Couldn't stand it any longer, so I emailed DPS this afternoon requesting a PIN. They responded a couple of hours later saying that my application had not been entered into system. "It is likely that it is going through the processes required before entry. When a completed application is entered you will receive a confirmation letter with your PIN number." So, for all of you fellow travelers, it is taking at least three weeks for them to get around to feeding paper to the computer. I'll betcha they cashed that bank cashier's check real quick though. Be patient young man

Class taken 1/10/09
Application mailed certified mail 1/12/09
DPS received 1/13/09

Late to join up, but another data point to add.

Internet pre-applied 2008
Mailed app 1/7/09
As of 2/4/09 still in 'Mailed packet to applicant' limbo.
