Just thought I would update about my wifes for those tracking theirs. I sent my wifes out 12-9 it was received 12-11 she did the online application so there was not a check to cash or PIN to be issued. It never changed status from packet mailed to applicant until last week 1-14 it changed to processing application. So that was a little over 30 days before they started processing after receipt of her package. My next renewel is in March 2011 maybe I should start on it now.

@ getin1,

Man 30 days from official receipt to "start processing". Wow. That is alot like that other guy that I was responding to. I guess I shouldnt complain when my official receipt day was 12/10 and it didnt change to Start Processing until 12/22.

I dont know if they are behind OR if they are lax on updating the website with info. I also wonder if the (assumed) increase of CHL requests has anything to do with it. What is weird from what I was reading is that there were delays with getting some plastic out earlier last year, but then I am seeing a lot of the november folks getting (or have already got) their plastic. I am hoping that they have enough help to get through the process quickly and get me my plastic.

I really hope that it does not take until 2/10 (or longer) to get this whole thing completed. I want to be like the few that I heard that got theirs within 40 days of them receiving it.

then, you have the whole I have to send away for permission for a constitutional right issue...... :banghead:

frazzled, I noticed in your signature that you got the status where further information was requested. Did you status ever change back to processing prior to being completed? I got the same status on 12/31 because my pictures were too dark. I sent them new pictures, with new signatures, which they received on 1/7 but my status still remains missing information. I called to make sure it wasn't something else and they just told me the website had not been updated.
No.
1) my online status never changed from "processing request" (or whatever the exact term is). This incldes during the period when I received the letter request and replied. It changed from "processing" to "certificate issued/approved" lingo.

2) Did your picture request note that, if the information requested was recieved, your application would be complete? I think the website updates are...uncertain.
I received an email from them this morning saying the website status had not been updated, so I checked the status on the website this morning and now it says Processing Application. I guess that's better than Information Missing.

I think it must just be a bureaucratic quirk with updating their site. I sent my packet certified, return receipt and got the receipt where they received my packet on the 29th of December. Then, I was issued a pin after requesting it by email. Obviously they must have my application or they would not issue me a pin.

BTW, when I went online and filled out my application to try to have it all done before class, I filled it out completely, hit "send" and was prompted to call the bureaucrats. The online app didn't even go through. I did, and was told by Latashoniqua (?) at CHLS that I was "already in their system" and they needed to send me a packet with "a number" already on it.

When the packet arrived, (in 22 days, approximately 5 days after I completed my class) true to bureaucratic form, there was no "number" or anything in/on it anywhere. It was just a standard application packet. Cost the state $4.20 to send it to me?

After reading and enjoying much of this site, I am resigned to believing my plastic will get it here when Barack Obama gives it the Washington D.C. okay to get here. Until then, no worries.

Dec 3 CHL Class
Dec 4 Mailed packet (already had PIN)
Dec 15 Status changed to "Processing"
Dec 29 Received notice in mail that fingerprints rejected
Jan 5 Mailed FAST-generated prints.

I think this will be a long process for me. Whenever I purchase a firearm, I get "DELAYED".
I just return to the gun store a few days later and pick up my gun. Never had a call back or a move from DELAY to PROCEED. One guy at the gun store thinks this may be because I have a fat DOD file (long BI, mega clearances, etc). I would have thought this would speed things up, but the same guy says it slows things down because of delayed access to the information. Who knows?

I just spoke to CHLB, not to rush my application but because my address has changed.
When I asked what she could tell me other than "processing" she said it's waiting on BC at Harris County. She could offer no timeframe for BC completion.
She said everything else "appears" to be approved.
We'll see.

I had an arrest 20 years ago and was aquitted. I got the info about the incident and listed it on my app. Today, I got the letter stating I have to submit a certified copy of the final disposition.
D'oh!
I did a stupid, I know. Failed to read the app instruction that said to include a cert copy. Tomorrow I'll order the cert copies from the court and mail that in. I'm going to guess I just added 45 days to my wait.

It seems they could simply log into the data base and see the disposition. I know there is some reason for requiring a cert copy of the order but it seems a little . . . . . .

Not necessarily. Make sure you request a certified copy of the item. I would re-enclose a copy of the letter they sent. Did the letter say your file would be complete once that is submitted? Mine did and once it was sent it the approval came within ten business days (still haven't gotten the card yet and the wife is still pulling my chain that she's certified and I'm not :grumble )

Yep. Me, too. After seeing the message that no application was found, I sent an email asking about it. Got a prompt reply (for a bureaucrat) in just one day explaining that I may have been clicking on the "instructor" permit tracking link.

I followed instructions and saw application processing status.

This time it was my fault, not the bureaucrat.

God Bless the good ones. They really work hard and do a good job.

BTW.

I had a CHL back in 1999 - 2001, or thereabouts and let it expire. I know they're still going to do a thorough BC, however, I wonder if having previously been licensed may speed the process? :txflag:

I was soooo excited this morning, that I posted this in the November...but I am actually a December app.. hee hee!!

I just logged into the site to see the "application processing" and about had a heart attack when it said "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"!!!!!!!!!!

This is soooooooooooo awesome. What a way to start my monday morning!!!!! I am so excited!!! Cannot wait to get it and do my wally walk.

Quick bit of info, I live in Tarrant county. On my app, I listed all the places I lived in the last "X" years (I lived in 2 coporate housing places in Indiana and my current home in Texas), so I guess all my Background check stuff came back. Wahoooo!!!

OK, I am waaaaaayyyyyyyyy to excited about this. No more taking my gun out and placing it under the seat when I go to restaurants, or any other place!!! Wahoooo!!!! I am a kid on Christmas. Good luck to all the other folks that submitted theirs in the early part of December (austin received mine in 12/10/08).

This is sooooooooooooo great!!!!

(does it look like I am excited~!!!!!!)

dewayneward, that's awesome! DPS had mine several days before yours, but I'm in Ike Country. Congrats anyway, I can still be happy for you.

They received my renewal packet on December 23rd.

As of January 23, the online message now indicates they are processing the application.

30 days right on the money.
