Hey fellas (and ladies, tho' I've seen no evidence...)

Just checking in from Harris county. Congrats to Morgan!

Still waiting over here - status is still "processing", so I guess all this Ike damage (heavy sarcasm) is slowing down the gumshoes...

Oh well, I'm not at (or near) 60 days yet, but you gotta know the holidays will slow things down a bit (and rightfully so, I might add).

Sent in today the proof of my 'Merican-ship. Birth certificate and Passport. Hope it doesn't kick me to the back of the line.

I will say that it was nice of them to provide me with a very clear letter of the documents they required, and an envelope to send them in.

It won't kick you back. It'll pick up where it left off. Just think of it as 'pausing' while watching a movie to take a leak. :biggrinjester:

After they receive it, it'll be about 5 days or so to pick back up. Good luck man!!

UPDATE: Got my plastic this morning. :thewave :txflag: :patriot:
Bye bye waiting room.

That's good to hear... I was wondering the same thing after they requested my records from the County Clerk over an arrest THAT WASN'T AN ARREST. :banghead:

Hi all - just found this forum. It sure seems like some of you are getting your licenses much faster than me, and then a few are a lot longer (so far). I took my class on 10/18/08 and send in the application and fee on 10/20/08. I received no less than four PIN letters (may even have been 5 or 6). The one I have in front of me now is dated 11/13/08. I've been stuck on "Processing Application" ever since...

Edit: OK - Newb mistake right off the bat. This should be in the October Applications thread. Maybe a mod could move it for me?

It's no worry. You're not quite to the 60 day point yet...but what I'd do is after Xmas I'd give the state a call... you'll know they have had your application for more than 60 days, which is what they ask you to wait before directing questions at them. Give them a polite call and say, "hey, You've been in receipt of my application for more than 60 days, and I was wondering if I could get some status on my application?"

What county are you in, btw? That seems to be making a world of difference.

Yeah, but aren't all the apps process in Austin?

They're started in Austin, then sent to individual counties for background checks. Harris county is the worst and slowest this year at getting applications back to the state. Some people in Harris county have taken 4 to 6 MONTHS to get their licenses, while some of us in other states have gotten our plastic in the 36-39 DAY range. Sorry to bear bad news but you may be waiting for a while. it DOES seem recently that things have started moving a little better...don't know if the Harris county log jam has eased tho. Good luck!

Has anyone ever noticed their status changing on the DPS website during the day? Or has it always changed overnight?

When I went from processing to complete, the first time I looked at oh-god-early in the morning it was processing and when I looked later in the day it was "complete" so it didn't change over night.

My guess is the website pulls from a dynamic database. It's certainly easier to do it that way than to create a 2nd db just to display status.

I think it changes whenever. There were times it changed overnight for certain things and times where it changes during the day. Mine changed to Application Complete overnight and before that, it changed to Application Incomplete during the day. It also changes on the weekends as I have seen with other applicants.

WooooooooooooHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!1!!11111eleven!!!!one!!!1 :hurry:

Just went to check and it's complete and issued... not bad for taking the class Nov. 1st and having them send me a request for more info around the 8th of December.

Now I just need to not get pulled over here while I wait for my plastic... unless I want to be the test case for that "What if..." post.
