They send you a PIN at some point. I can't answer your other questions.

I'm told the process is the same for everyone. I too was hoping for some expeditious treatment due to having already been through a full FBI security clearance. No dice. 60 days will happen for me on the 22nd.

Sorry, there is no rush for the Military Folks. We do get the fee's waived, which is real nice.
Best of luck, it looks as if one of the first November Apps just got his license. ( 37 days) So if your going to hang out and wait, grab a chair in the waiting room. This site is awesome, alot of good people here.

The FBI check is not the delay. They have one trooper doing the local checks for all of Houston. Population 2 million.bridge wrote:I'm told the process is the same for everyone. Be safe. Anyway, I don't think that Texas has reciprocity with Iraq.

Re: Waiting time for military?
I know...I wonder how many folks Galveston has working their background check requests. It would be nice if DPS could utilize the information gathered not more than a year ago (at the expense of the tax payer no less) and use that to approve the license rather than have to wait on the locals and repeat what has already been done(and continually updated). Besides, that govt check was a great deal more thorough than anything the DPS could do. It asked for all previous addresses. The first one I put down was "womb"AWB09 wrote:The FBI check is not the delay. They have one trooper doing the local checks for all of Houston. The price is right but it doesn't seem to help speed it up.

Re: Waiting time for military?
I know I didn't get any kind of a "push" when I got mine back in '07. I had to wait the same time to get mine that everyone else (non-military) did.
You keep your head down and stay safe while deployed. Stay safe.
