Day fifty five. Just received notice by mail that fingerprints were of poor quality and FBI could not complete the required check. :bigmouth

"The New Age of Electronic Fingerprint Identification
Fingerprints are now processed through the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System. The fingerprints are submitted electronically or by mail, processed on IAFIS, and a response is returned to the contributing agency within two hours or
less for electronic criminal fingerprint submissions and twenty-four hours or less for electronic civil fingerprint submissions. Fingerprint processing has been reduced from weeks and months to hours and minutes with"

Well just got prints done at San Marcos PD and I think they look worse than the original! But I will be going to the FAST place to get a set of freebies tomorrow and off they go BACK to Austin. Why can't this ever be easy? :grumble

Georgia CL...My friend applied for his Georgia application 30 days ago. He got his plastic yesterday. Georgia does not have the same requirements that Texas does. I am glad we have higher standards but because of reciprocation my friend could carry in Texas today while we all wait. What is wrong with this picture? I support our high standards and I think we should require license holders from other states to have the same high standards or Texas soul not reciprocate.

What are your thoughts?

I think high standards are good because it leaves less room for scrutiny if there is a major dispute over the issue meaning political. However, as I and a few others are experiencing, this fingerprinting delay stuff is ridiculous and there just seems to be a lot of pitfalls that can snag you if you do all the paperwork yourself. I know the state has the FAST service that they recommend and I will try them....again....but there needs to be some more streamlined and definite processing IMO. Like one certified place that does all that is required so there is less room for error. But I am sure it would get mucked up like most bureaucratic offices out there so who knows if it would work. Bottom line....high standards are good overall.

Good news! I just returned home from vacationing in Colorado and found my Pin in the mail. Checked the website and was surprised to see "Application Complete"! Let's see how long till I get it in the mail.

PS. I have never called DPS or inquired any other way FYI...

That's great :cheers2: but as a June applicant, I just wanted to see who has recieved an 'app complete' status from July, it really irritate's me as the DPS recieved my app 6 week's before your's  ! The DPS has been waiting on my background check from Harris County, I live in Houston, for almost 4 full week's which I find very unacceptable. I have lived in Houston my whole life, have no felonies, no misdemeanor's and submitted a notarized criminal and civil disposition with my application! I will be contacting my state rep next monday if I dont get an 'application complete' status by this friday.

Just curious. Did it just say "Application complete" or "Application completed - license issued or certificate active"

Just seems too quick at only 40 days.

Darn, I just logged in, and I'm still "Processing Application". I did notice I was a few days behind most people that posted here notifying of their upgrade to "Processing Application", so maybe there's still hope!! :hurry:

This is the fastest yet! I am happy to see that DPS is doing a great job! I read that all the calls to our reps has helped the DPS get more funding for processors and even a new office so I think that they are now in a position to get our applications processed faster! This is great news! I look forward to seeing more July applications turning into plastic soon!

Had finger prints redone at FAST location yesterday, then sent to Austin via UPS overnight deleivery, attention MS Coffy.
they should be there before noon today. The FBI did say they did a name only check with negative results so hope that speeds things up.
Day 59 and counting.

All right guess I need to pair up with you because ours is going to the same place, mine will be there tomorrow. But I also went to FAST and sent to the same woman. Who did you call at the FBI? Or did the DPS tell you that?

In the letter from the FBI to DPS rejecting my prints they did say "For your information we ran a name only check with negative results."
Sorry, I have no # for them.
