Will having an FFL speed background check?

#1

Post by blacktop »

Just wondering if having a FFL (Curio & Relic License in my case) would cause the background checks (and thus the wait for plastic) to go any faster? Having already been through the Federal background checks required for the C&R license, I'd hope that might speed things up. I can wish, can't I?

Nope. Sorry. Every background check is conducted independently. Plus, most of the waiting time for a CHL consists of your packet sitting in a pile in Austin.

Getting my initial C&R FFL took longer than most people are waiting for their CHLs. The packet was perfect, but kept getting shuffled from desk to desk as new people took over my area. The ATF licensing ombudsman is great at lighting a fire under them. :coolgleamA:

My C&R license also took forever for them to process but it was worth the wait. I've saved a lot of $$$ on transfer fees. It's really nice how the man in the big brown truck brings me toys every month!
