This is great news. It good to start hearing more frequent reports of 70-80 day application times.

70-80 days would be nice. Today's day 67 for me.

Although once it comes in the mail I will have to get serious about solving my holster problem.

I just talked to DPS on the phone today, the lady who answered on the second ring (Julie I think) was very nice and helpful, she said they are taking around 120 days or so due to a 51% increase in volume. I guess thats a good problem to have... Soo I guess I'll just have to keep practicing on the range and buying more holsters!

Well, that information (it's taking 120 days) is demonstrably incorrect because we have people getting them in under 70 days and others who are way over 120.

You wonder why it's hard to trust them?

How hard is it to just give correct information on the phone?

"Hi, I would like to check the status of my application. It has been 78 days now, and the statute requires it to be complete in 60 days."

"I am sorry sir, I cannot check on the status of your application. It is in the queue along with all of the rest."

"Well, excuse me but it is 18 days beyond the statute time. Can you give me any reason why it is delayed?"

"Some applications are being processed on time. Some others can take up to 180 days. There are variables that I am not aware of that may cause one application to be delayed and some others to not be delayed. They are not being processed in chronological order and there really is no method or order that explains why some are taking twice as long as others. Provided you have not received notice of a problem with your application, then you should consider it to be running within the normal time frame if it has not yet been six months since you submitted it."

"Are you sure you can't check on my actual application?"

"Yes sir, I am sure. I only answer the phone and read this script to you. I do not have access to any other information."

:)

Maybe I'll call them today and see what they say.

Hi Everybody,
I've been lurking here for what seems like forever, soaking up tons of knowledge, but now as my time appears to be coming near I thought I'd chime in. I am also a May applicant, and I am in the "processing application" rut. I have called 3 times I think and talked to one really nice lady and "Steve" twice. All I've gotten from Steve is that applications are running 120-150 days. I almost feel like it will be anti-climactic to finally see the magic "license issued" status, though I think I check 3 times a day now. Anyway, I also took Mr. Cotton's Utah class in Austin and I'm starting to think that the Utah one will arrive before the Texas one. So, this is me pulling up a chair (finally) and I hope I won't be staying long!! Thank you all for so much info, knowledge and encouragement. :txflag:

Texas CHL - applied online in April

Texas CHL - April applied online

July 6th - status "Processing Application"
Sept. 4th - Day 99 - Application Completed - license issued or certificate active!

Utah CFP

Day 90 for me today..

... of course I have been arrested and cleared of all charges but also paid off a new 3 bedroom 2 bath home and 3 new cars over the years and yet have no credit, go figure that? "rlol" dang I should have stayed in hock I guess :

Maybe they will look and see I pay my bills and don’t have credit and toss my CHL application on the floor? maybe I can go file a motion for discovery :smash: so I can look at my files and see if there are any foot prints on the paperwork I sent. :rules: :smilelol5: :thewave :woohoo

CHL Log - Day 86: Mailbox is still barren; holster is gathering dust. Morale is at an all time low... and hope for making it out of the Waiting Room before day 90 is all but lost.

Any time-frame estimates from others in Tarrant/Dallas county?

Today is likely-day 81 for me.

I emailed them today to request additional clarification of the reason for the delay. I don't really expect a response. No time to sit on hold for an hour to talk to them about it when I know that there is a high likelihood that they will just tell me that "we have had a huge rise in the number of applications and we are currently running 90-120 days on most applications".

Well I just talked with "Steve".

I am at day 81 (or so).

He obviously read a script saying "we have had a 51% increase in applications and we are currently running 120-150 days processing time..." same thing they are telling everyone word for word.

Then when I pressed for more detailed answer for my app, he said it was currently undergoing background checks, and says they are trying to do "first-in, first-out" but due to running changes in the process and bringing on new people, it is not happening on a first-in, first-out basis.
