Pulling up the proverbial chair. 
I'm in exactly the same situation. I mailed the packets off for both me and my wife yesterday (August 1st). I also did the online application and my status is "Packet mailed to applicant". I'm settling in for the long haul, but I'm going to try to not check my status until day 60 and then maybe check it every couple weeks. We'll see if I can follow through with that.
Now, I also sent off my Utah packet on July 25th and I expect that will arrive sooner. That will take the pressure off of DPS if I have plastic in hand from Utah early.

I'll join y'all too in the waiting room. I took my turnkey class on August 9th and I sent my packet to DPS on 8/11. I applied online so here's to hoping that things are speeding up down at the DPS.
