April Applications

Re: April Applications
Welcome psidrop1
91 days today and still not in the system, Calling my rep tomorrow. As for the LCP, my dad told me about them and I looked into finding one. As you know, nobody had one. I went to a gun show in Pasadena and talked to a gun dealer out of Clute. They said they had some but they were snatched up real quick. He told me to call their shop the following day to put my name on the list. I called, they had some and I reserved 2 and picked them up the next weekend. I have put dozens of factory rounds through one of them (I traded the other to my dad) and have not had any problems. Of course this will probably jinx me. The only issue my dad has is not being able to lock the slide back with his thumb. But he is 72 years old and there isn't much of a protrusion to push on. My wife doesn't like it because she feels it will "jump" out of her hands, so she won't carry it. So she picked up a Kimber Ultra II CDP 9 mm this weekend. Haven't shot it yet but I (I mean she) can't wait.

Re: April Applications
Called the DPS this morning, was basically told that my application wasn't in the system and they had no intention of looking for it. After 82 days I'm a little worried that it may of gotten lost, buried etc. Later this morning, I recieved an email from the DPS stating that my application was indeed recieved on the 22nd of April, and that I had neglicted to fill out the eye color box on the application. I emailed them back the correct information, and they said that it would be corrected on my application. I don't know whether the sudden change was due to my phone call this morning, the emails to the State Rep, Senator, and Gov. office, or just plain luck. To tell the truth, I'm just excited to see any type of progress.

Re: April Applications
Called DPS today and was told that my application had only been "partially entered" (Since May 16th???!!!). I asked how the heck you "partially enter" an application and was told that there are different parts to the application that must be keyed in. I again asked what the heck does "partially entered" mean???!! If you are processing an app and entering information WHY would you NOT key it ALL in at the same time???!!!! I was told AGAIN that they were experiencing a big increase in applications, blah, blah, blah... This makes absolutely NO sense to me to "PARTIALLY ENTER" an application. Why on earth would you only enter PART of the application information into the system? Piecemeal? What are they doing down there? Is this how they hope to get caught up?......Enter in a bit of info for one app, toss it to the side and start on another?? Of course I had to ask the obvious question: "Do you have any indication when the REST of it will be entered and then PROCESSED???" Any guesses on what the response was??? Someone in Austin needs to get on the ball here and streamline. Boys and girls we don't start on another application unit you FINISH entering the one you have started..................

What they mean by partially entered is "We opened the packet took out the check and cashed it".

Re: April Applications
Actually, "Steve" (the fellow I spoke to at DPS) told me that SOME of the background checks had already come back! SO again, what the heck is the logic here??? The rest of the app cannot be processed if the REST of the information is not entered by THEM to proceed with!wrinkles wrote:What they mean by partially entered is "We opened the packet took out the check and cashed it".

Re: April Applications
I was in the March-08 waiting room and we are starting to see a lot of movement on issuance of licenses. My 03/21 application is now approved and am waiting on the actual plastic. My guess is they are mostly done with March so you ought to see some real movement in the next few weeks.
You all are definitely up to bat.
Hang in there.

Re: April Applications
I Completed my training April 4, and sent in my packet April 5. I received my PIN April 11th. <----I was thinking this is FAST SERVICE. However, it took 3 months to get my application processed and approved on July 12th (there were no problems with my application). So here it is July 15th... and I'm still waiting for my plastic to arrive.
I understand it takes time to screen people and verify their CHL worthiness, but over 90 days is just too long! It's not like this was a "free" service... we paid our fees!
Anyway my plastic is at the mercy of the US Postal System now... ho, that's encouraging.

Re: April Applications
First off, thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I wanted to give you an update that I think is encouraging - my status just changed to "Processing Application". I remember talking to someone at DPS (Simone, I think) a few weeks ago who informed me that this is usually an indication that the federal check has come back good and I am only a couple of weeks out from actually receiving something in the mail.psidrop1 wrote: Hello everyone from Sugar Land, TX. This is my first post to the forum. My instructor was the one who told me about the TexasCHLForum site, so I owe him all the credit. Glad to be here.
This is where I stand as of today:
March 25 - Submitted online application request to DPS
April 12 - Took the class
April 13 - Mailed application packet via certified mail to DPS
April 17 - Application received by DPS
As of today, it has been 88 days and I am still waiting.
Horribly disappointed in the entire process.

Re: April Applications
Howdy everyone..After a long(though not as long as others) wait, I was finally approved this morning. The mail-man cant come fast enough now.It seems like a lot of people were on my same time frame,so it shouldn't be long guys & gals.

Welcome to the forum!
I don't want to discourage your encouraging event, but the change in status to "Processing Application" just means that they have started entering your information into the system. I was really encouraged when I received my PIN so quickly after submitting the application. I began thinking, "WOW, I'm going to get my plastic so much faster than other folks because I got my PIN so quick and my application is already being processed." Now I sit here exactly three months after my status changed to "Processing", still have no plastic in hand 104 days after DPS received my packet and with no notification of any problems with it.
Hopefully you will have better luck than me!

Re: April Applications
Just got a call from the DPS. They said that my wife's application (sent in at the same time) is just waiting for one record to come back for her DPS background check, and that her license is being manufactured. Mine is a different story... Apparently, I am missing part of my physical description which cannot be corrected thru email or the telephone. They have mailed me a form that I will have to fill out and then mail back to them. Missing information is completely my fault, but shouldn't the DPS already have this information? Oh well, alteast I'm nearing the end of this mess.
