I was quite surprised that Rep. Taylor's office responded to my e-mail the very next day. :clapping: According to his aid, I should expect to hear from the DPS next week. :bigear: I won't hold my breath, but if our reps hear from enough of us maybe something will be done to improve the service we receive from those fine folks at the DPS! "rlol"

I got a call from DPS 2 days after Taylor's office said they'd look into it. They seem to be pretty on top of things there.

Wow! What was the outcome?

The call was on Thursday afternoon wanting some more info to help find my app, and Friday was a holiday, so hopefully I will hear from them on Monday. I also had a letter from the governor's office waiting in my mailbox on July 5th, dated June 30. That letter said they'd contact the DPS head and see what could be done. So since the letter was dated before the call, I'm sure I can give the gov's office some credit, too.

So I finally found out some info today from Matthew at the DPS. He stated that all of my background stuff was done, all the info was entered in, and it was just needed to be sent out. He said that the last note on my application was on May 12th....

I then asked how much longer I could expect to wait and he promised that it should definetly be in within the next 45 days.....really? What the hell? :mad5

Suzanna Hupp was on the radio today locally and encouraged everyone to contact their reps about this. And she would be one to know if that is effective or helpful.

After an inquiry from Rep. Taylor's office, the DPS called me yesterday. I spoke with a very nice lady who told me the FBI check is done and they are only waiting for local checks to be completed. She also said the license has been printed and it's in the file (she actually had her hands on it) and they should be ready to mail by as early as next week.

It seems that because so many are contacting their representatives or the Governor's office, they are getting more personnel to help process applications. She thought it a good thing that people are calling their reps for help.

Well, to give an update:

I hadn't gotten any response from my reps office since I sent them an email, so I called them back about a week after I sent it to make sure they got it. It would seem as though I happened to send my email on my rep's moving day and they were trying to catch back up with everything. I was told that they had sent an email on my behalf though. So I called the DPS to find out what was going on with their end of things and, though all this time I had been told all of my background checks were complete, I was told they were still waiting on the "field investigations". Well, I kinda lost my cool at this point....

So I asked for a supervisor and after being told none were in the office today :mad5 I was finally transferred to one that WAS in the office magically. She tells me that they are waiting on my local checks to be completed and she was going to investigate why this wasn't done and acknowledged that mine was taking longer than most. However, she did state that there are currently over a 1000 applications to process a week and that she had 30 "research applications" in her lap. Once she started throwing numbers out, and seeming truly exasperated, I kinda felt bad and just told her to get back to me when she had time. So I'm supposed to get a call sometime this week with a final word.

*sigh*

:tiphat:

Most people don't like to be disturbed during coffee and lunch breaks and especially don't want to be disturbed on Mondays when sharing the past weekend's events with co-inhabitants of the office. :totap:
