PIN number question
How long does it usually take before you get your PIN number if you didn't apply online?

Re: PIN number question
Welcome to the forum pims14. From what I can tell the PIN is normally issued somewhere between 2 and 12 weeks.

f you have forgotten, misplaced or never received your PIN, please contact TxDPS via email (chl@txdps.state.tx.us) and include the following information: Texas concealed handgun license number, driver license number, full name and date of birth. Re: PIN number question
Hey thanks for the info on the email request. I sent my app in on 4/12 and it was signed for on 4/14. Have received nothing, nada, zip, etc from DPS. I just sent a very cordial email, lets see what happens now.JDKRIEK wrote: I never received mine and had to manually request it via email
BTW how do you like your Kimber? I have seen a lot of them at gun shows, my wife really likes them (her name is Kimberly, so go figure huh ). Anyway, I just can't get over the sticker shock. Are they worth it?

Re: PIN number question
I went ahead an sent them an email, it didnt help any. Also, as of today I am at day 67. I dont plan to contact them again until I get a letter. Any one know what "the processes required before entry" is beside cashing my money order? Here is the return email:

Re: PIN number question
kicker, you may want to think about writing your rep, senator, gov, etc. if you haven't already. Seems to "magically" help people on the forum whose apps are way behind schedule. I have about 2 weeks until my 60 day mark, but I have my letters written and on standby.

Re: PIN number question
I contacted my state rep and senator today even though they only received my application on May 29th. I told them 60 days was too long and 90 is unacceptable. They both told me they have a lot more applications to process than they did a year ago. I told them to use the extra revenue and get them processed within 30 days. I will keep you posted if i should experience satisfactor service.
Sincerely, test case

LOL...now that the cat is out of the bag and every Tom, Dick and Harry is writing their whatever to get "special" treatment, the "special" treatment will soon be over. It was nice while it lasted. Final loophole to expediant processing soon to be closed.

Re: PIN number question
I love mine and carry it all day (at/to)(home/work). Accurate as hell, although I tend to mainly practice self defense/crisis scenarios at the range - within range rules of course. Very comfortable. Is it worth it? IMO yes, but of course we can say the same for Wilson Combat or Ed Brown. High quality guns come with a high price. I traded in my HK P2000SK LEM 9MM for the Kimber and am completely satisfied. Now I'll be looking for a Kimber for my fiancé (wife June 22). I would like to get a government or commander bobtail in the future, but for now my primary concern in CCW.vscott wrote:BTW how do you like your Kimber? Re: PIN number question
On the upside, perhaps more letters will lead to action on their part. If they get too much of it, they may decide they've had enough and actually fix it. Maybe it's time to start a good old fashioned letter writing campaign, or maybe even a petition?03Lightningrocks wrote:LOL...now that the cat is out of the bag and every Tom, Dick and Harry is writing their whatever to get "special" treatment, the "special" treatment will soon be over. Re: PIN number question
2-12 weeks, that's funny. Looks like I've lost my longest wait for pin title. Perhaps the shortest processing application time to. I think in the end you are either long on one and short on the other, of vice-versa. At least hopefully not long on both ends!!kd5zex wrote:Welcome to the forum pims14. It'll happen.

Re: PIN number question
I believe your right. It will surely make politicians notice there is a problem. My post was a sarcastic way of pointing out that if everybody is writing their representative, the DPS will give up on trying to process those quickly also. One of the comments made by the rep on the phone I talked to last week had to do with being irritated by people getting put ahead off the line because they cried to their politician. In reality, it isn't fair for them to do this. It is one thing for special consideration to be given for folks like the poster who spoke of his wife getting jerked around over finger prints for 6 months. But it is total crap for someone to wine about their status and get special consideration after only 60 days when the rest of us are in the 90-120 day range.agbullet2k1 wrote:On the upside, perhaps more letters will lead to action on their part. Re: PIN number question
. Spoke to Heather on August 28 (Day 137) and received my PIN 9/3 (day 143). She said my plastic should arrive within 4 weeks. We had to evacuate for the hurricane and I'll bet it messes me up somehow. Just checked the status of the application and it says Processing Application. Today is the 4th week to the day. No mailman or UPS guy.
And I wait.
And I wait.

Re: PIN number question
Did you get a notice in the mail about 6 months before your CHL expires?
Did the notice invite you to complete the application on-line?
Take a closer look at it - THE PIN WAS INCLUDED!!
Is it the right PIN? Well, mine works. ("Processing Application.")
So there's no need to wait for a PIN - you should've received it 6 months before expiration!
