Reminded me of this Norman Rockwell painting. Kinda the same as a maternity waiting room. I think most of the occupants are just as anxious!nedmoore wrote:They sure did pick a good name for this room didn't they.

Hi Everyone,
Who said that patience is a virtue? Whoever made this bold statement wasn't going bonkers waiting for their CHL! Of course, checking the website daily is necessary. Spending hours on the internet, bookmarking sites (Firearms, then Guns, Forums, Shopping, Gun Shows, and Magazine Subscriptions - all with sub-categories), reading magazines, and making necessary purchases fill my days and nights. Did I fail to mention practicing the Wally Walk??? One positive thing I do daily is visiting this forum. I'm learning so much from the posts here!
So here is my history:
07 Dec 2007 Applied online
18 Dec 2007 Recieved packet in mail
12 Jan 2008 Took CHL class and passed
04 Feb 2008 Mailed packet to Austin
Status
up to 22 Feb 2008 "PACKET MAILED TO APPLICANT"
22 Feb 2008 to present (27 March 2008) "PROCESSING APPLICATION"
It appears that there are quite a few of us here together. We'll continue to hang tough and have faith that arthritis doesn't set in before the plastic arrives in the mail. We must do our Wally Walk's with style!
Seriously, I feel fortunate to be sharing my time with such neat folks!

Re: Let's hear some updates!
I finally got my PIN today! The letter was dated 3/25 and they received my paperwork on 1/30.....That's 55 days from the day they received it until they started processing it. Hopefully the processing piece will go by quickly (I've never even had a traffic ticket, so the b/g check should be no problem....knock on wood).PetrucciFan wrote:Took class on 1/26

Check was deposited on 2/6
That's it....no pin, no nothin'.

2 Nov 2007 - mailed application
26 Nov 2007 - received PIN, checked online status = "Processing Application"
3 Dec 2007 - received letter, more info needed

As of today, 28 March 2008, status is still "Processing Application".

Re: Let's hear some updates!
Time to change that to a !!! I guess I can confirm that website updating sometimes DOES occur during the week, as yesterday it was still on "Packet mailed to applicant". Imagine the huge grin on my face when "Processing Application" popped up just now!thejtrain wrote: Nice CindiSu!!! Only 18 days from mailed to "Processing" - outstanding!!! Re: Let's hear some updates!
Well, looks like I'm making it through another week in the "Waiting Room/Morgue" with the mundane status of "Processing Application". So, through Sunday, I will be at 83 days.1 more week and I'll break the 90 day barrier. Kinda of gives the newbie a less than apprehensive feelin', eh?Lobo73 wrote:Tomorrow (March 27th)is another milestone day for me. 80 official days since received application.

Re: Let's hear some updates!
I have been on "Packet mailed to applicant" for over seven weeks now. I called a couple of weeks ago and they said my app was in prescreening. Has anyone had to wait longer?

Re: Let's hear some updates!
Let's see, I sent it registered March 24th...and it arrived in Austin March 25th according to USPS Tracking and Confirmation.
I still haven't recieved the confirmation card yet and it's 3/29. Don't have my PIN yet so I can't check the progess online.
Rest of the story is in my sigline.

Re: Let's hear some updates!
Mrs. Oldgringo and:
* I both took the course on 12/11/07
* We mailed in our applications on 12/17/07 and the checks were cashed on 1/4/08
* I received my CHL in mid-February
* Mrs. Oldgringo has had two (2) sets of fingerprints rejected (her first set was taken at the same time by the same guy
who took mine. Each rejection came in an UNSIGNED form letter without specificity as to the cause for rejection.
BTW, who is this Jan Coffey, Manager that he/she doesn't feel the need to sign their outgoing mail?
In summary, I got my plastic in about 60 days. Mrs. Oldgringo who applied identically with me is going on 100 days. Perhaps this third set of electronic prints sent in last Tuesday will be acceptable to the rejector?
Did I mention that I'm with this beureacratic bungling?

Re: Let's hear some updates!
Now that I think about it I hope they accept the fingerprints.
My fingers were kind of sweaty and some prints might be smudged.
