I've seen others who completed the class and app submission the same weekend as I did and they've already cleared background review and some even rec'd ltc in the mail... I realize there is a 60day window, but this wait is a killer...
I work FOR the State of Texas, my background check should be a breeze....

EDIT: On 4/6/18 My status on the DPS website updated to all check marks save the background check and print pending.... Getting close!

This might be a long shot, but here goes...

My application and supplemental docs have been in since Feb 1. It’s now been 74 days, or 10-1/2 weeks, and it’s still in background checks. Anyone I’ve spoken to through the DPS phone number has been less than helpfull.

Is there a next level, or manager, or someone I can speak to that can explain what’s going on? I know you can’t compare one application to another, but my wife’s came back in two weeks and I submitted both at the same time.

I'm not sure about a next level but legally they're supposed to get in done in 60 days. So something is definitely wrong.

Got email confirming doc submission 4/16


Does everyone get the checklist with yellow/green bars? I had to call in because I had 6 documents to send in and only 5 attachment spots. The lady was real helpful and very nice, I got my issue with the docs cleared up and she checked and was surprised she was able to see all of my stuff within 10 minutes of submitting. I don't see any checklist or progress on dps site, and have seen others say they don't either. Is the progress list for everyone? Or hit and miss?

Some of us are a little slow. I joined the group while I was a police officer, and carried since then on my retired peace officer credentials. Recently we were talking about it at work and several people tried to get a group up to go to the class together. I said I would to show my support and make sure they made the minimum for the class.

Class was 3/25. I did the online application on 4/3 and was fingerprinted on 4/5. When I checked the status on 4/5, I had the "submitted" that I expected. On 4/9 I got no status at all, just the message that if you completed the process the status would be unavailable. This continued until 4/12 when it started showing a status again saying I was pending printing. And that is where it is at now.

But one of the co-workers who filled it in online on 3/26 and was printed on 3/27 received his LTC in the mail on 4/4 I was amazed at that speed and hopeful. Now I am thinking he caught just the right timing for a print run and I just missed it to wait for the next.

Did my walk tonight! Went to a local liberal coffee shop and then to a steak place. Celebrated a little with dinner and then went home, cracked a beer, and loved life a little bit more.

well they have 60 days.... lol. but seriously, mine were under review for 2 days I think? maybe 1? the longest part for me (and most others i believe) is the background check. also it has a lot to do with how busy they are.
