21 Jan 2016... Class completed
12 Feb 2016... Confirmation email and fee paid
19 Feb 2016... Prints completed and All supporting docs uploaded

Now for the wait....
Update:

22 Apr 2016... Called both Reggie's voicemail, left a message and also called the main RSD number. RSD wouldnt give me any other info than "Still processing"
23 Apr 2016... Reggie returned my call and said that I was approved, expect plastic in hand 7-10 days
29 Apr 2016... Website changed today :woohoo jumped off couch and one leg hopped to the mail box (just had ankle rebuilt in surgery wednesday) no plastic yet
Ret, I can picture you hobbling to the mailbox. I know you only had your ankle rebuilt, but I picture you having a full leg cast and that stiff leg kicking out to the side in a looping motion as you head to the mailbox.............

Still no plastic. Maybe tomorrow. I've waited this long so what's a few more days right?
Boom, me too. Looks like many of us got a status change today. Maybe tomorrow, maybe in a few days.

Still waiting Mike. hopefully Monday. :waiting: One thing for sure, we know it wont be long now. :anamatedbanana
I know I'm ready. It's been a long wait. don't recall ever waiting this long for anything.
reminds me of the old days when you ordered something from a catalog, you clipped out the order form, filled it out,
put it in the envelope with the money, put it in the "Snail Mail" then waited 6 to 8 weeks for it to come in. but don't reckon
I ever waited 12 weeks for anything. especially in a time of instant everything. seems like a long long time.

You need to call and get someone to talk to. Something's gone wrong in the process.

118 Days. OR 3 months, 27 days!

App date: 1/6/2016
Class:1/10/2016
Docs submitted: 1/11/2016
Fingerprints: 1/13/2016
Email conf: 1/15/2016
DPS Letter requesting further info: 4/4/2016
Mailed expungement docs,etc: 4/11/2016
Website: ??
Plastic: ??

Disqualifying conviction in 1997 was expunged in 2002. However, CA county never forwarded docs to DOJ. Last year I was denied picking up my handgun (purchased legally in 2012 at TX Gun Shop) from a local pawn. I had to Appeal to reinstate my right to own & possess a MY already LEGALLY purchased firearm. I received my VAF number and new printout of my criminal background from DOJ, NICS. The disqualifier was no longer on record.

Note: there are numerous Databases the federal and state agencies use for background checks. My husband was a security contractor with secret clearance says every federal department uses their use systems. And none of the agencies share info.

I understand your frustration with this process. If you've passed the background check you have nothing to worry about. They are processing applications as fast as they can considering they are horribly understaffed. Usually when you call that 7771 number they tell you it will take 7-10 days for processing the app. They still have to send it to printing and have them mailed out. give them another 7-10 days then call that number back to see where you are in the application process.

Your frustrations are misplaced. DPS requested for more funding, but Legislature refused. This needs to be addressed in 2017.

I have contact my state rep., Jonathan Stickland, about supporting HB 560. Fine out who represents you, here.

I just tried to call the number they gave me, which is 512.454.7293. I can't get a person or even a voicemail. A woman's recorded voice just says to try back later. Is there a number I can call to verify that they have everything they need from me? I don't want to hound a bunch of very busy people, but I also don't want to wait for months only to realize they've been waiting on me! Thanks for all the help guys!

I got the same recording several times. I managed to get through around 10am on two separate occasions, but sat on hold for about 30 min or so.

Thanks. Guess I'll try again on the morning. Called 27 times this afternoon with no luck.

I have the number on speed dial. And i just keep calling till i get the answer that puts me on hold for 30 to 40 minutes. Sometimes it takes more than 20 attempts to get through. It's a hassle. But it is what it is. :headscratch
