I see plenty of timelines and issues with getting the license. Would it not be easier for the state of Texas to just give the people the constitutional right to carry? I mean forcing people to pay for a class, pay for an application (which could be approved or denied), pay for fingerprints, and then wait for months; isn't that against the founders of the Constitution ideas about "RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS"? As many people as I see on here complaining, and as many people that have submitted applications to the DPS these past few months, I feel if we all spoke up that we could get that law changed. The great state of Texas isn't so great when I (we) have to wait months (sometimes half a year) just to protect ourselves and our families. But will it ever change; I don't know so I guess I will continue to wait. Maybe the upcoming election season for state reps we demand a vote on this issue of constitutional carry and let the people speak!
Except my State Rep couldn't care less either way. That's indicated by his contact with DPS, on my behalf, amounted to a call stating "you just have to wait another 6-8 weeks. "
I'm about sure my State Rep. did absolutely nothing at all.... I will make sure to remember that during the election, and to tell all of my co-workers which make-up a pretty hefty portion of his votes.

And what of those who applied in February and March, & now have plastic in hand. Arent you just a little annoyed of the dozens, if not hundreds, having jump forward in the line?WilliePete wrote:All these people emailing and contacting their state reps has me concerned. I think it is a good thing to bring to light with those who can do something about the problems we have with having to wait so long. I see a problem with this though. You just did two things. 1) If it does work you just cut the line in front of others 2) This will further bog the system down and cause more delays. I personally am for Constitutional Carry. As a veteran I believe all of our rights come from God, not a lawyer. With that said, the system we have now kind of sucks, but it is what we have. Be patient or work to improve it.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Yesterday, I received a letter from RSD stating that since my fingerprints were rejected I needed to have my fingerprints retaken. I had retaken my fingerprints a second time shortly after the first attempt failed. Either they never received one of the results or it was misplaced at RSD. I worked in healthcare for over 40 years and I was constantly washing my hands. The quality of my fingerprints had degraded so much that you can just barely see them. Any suggestions on how best to contact RSD and get this resolved?

I don't think it is a pure linear process and a case of people jumping forward in the line. One may have a "clean" record, but if one has a common name, or a name the same as or similar to someone whose record isn't so clean then the process may take longer. Same perhaps with people whose criminal record is clean but have frequently moved or changed jobs. Just as one example, a friend I used to work with has a name that appears on the no fly list, but it isn't him. You would not believe what he has to go through every time he flies.Gnamaree02 wrote:And what of those who applied in February and March, & now have plastic in hand. Here's how it works. They brought in more help. The new help has started processing Feb applications, therefore speeding up backlog.PhilBob wrote:I don't think it is a pure linear process and a case of people jumping forward in the line. I got my plastic, Mon, 3/28. Website changed Sat, 3/27.
Plastic in 1 day short of 12 weeks.
Wife's website changed 3/31. She got her plastic on Sat, 4/2. 88 days, 4.days plus 12 weeks. We both were all in w/confirmation email on (only one) on 1/5.
Ours came just like most of them, 12 weeks give or take a few. With NO extra contact. If you go to website to check your status and it does not kick out and error, YOU ARE IN THE SYSTEM.
I know it's fun in this chat room, but HOLD YOUR HORSES.
YOU WILL MORE THAN LIKELY HAVE TO DO YOUR TIME FOR WAITING TILL THIS YEAR TO GET'ER DONE, 12 WEEKS IS WHAT THEY QUOTING NOW. CONGRESSMEN OR THE GOVERNOR OF THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS HAVE MORE INPORTANT THINGS TO DO THAN FIELD PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS BECAUSE YOU ARE IMPATIENT!
REMEMBER 12 WEEKS, GIVE OR TAKE A DAY OR TWO.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND BE SAFE!
Over and Out

Friends who did the class with me and submitted on the 22nd have had their plastic for 2 weeks almost 3 now. Hopefully this weeks my week... I emailed my state rep last Monday and have yet to get a reply. Guess she's left wing.. Just my luck.
Woke up and checked my status this morning and it finally changed!! 3-31-16
Time to sit at the window and wait for the mail lady like the good ol' days
