Ha ha ha ha; that's kinda the image my brain comes up with as well. It's sad the agencies at all levels of government are so far behind the technology curve.TexasVetEOD wrote:Haas wrote:TexasVetEOD wrote:^sweatmachine wrote:All great points, but the underlying factor is that they are EXTREMELY uncommunicative and that is the primary source of frustration. I wanted to see if I could provide a little clarity on how this most likely works since there seems to be the thought process that these DPS folks are idiots, overworked and there is no real process. I assure you there may be some of these situations there same as anywhere else but there is more to it. I don't put this out there to irritate anyone but it is very likely the truth.

All in all, they aren't trying to upset you or anyone personally.
I think a real website where we could see our status in the process would reduce frustration levels by 90%.

This so much.
One would hope that everything is done electronically. In which case a database you can reference with your DL number could the status of your application.
For some reason, when I try and picture the process in my brain; this is what I imagine.

Re: "Waiting Room"
There has to be a way to streamline this. If you file electronically, you would think the system could do the FACT check as it goes through. If your record is clean go to the front of the line. If you are like me, with a spotty childhood record, you need more verification. However, I uploaded certified copies of my background for them to have so I was very forward with them. I should get a bit of a slower pass, but after seeing my supporting documents lining up with my background, go to the front of the line. If you did not send supporting documents and there is a question, you get held until you send in supporting documents. The process seems to be a comedy of errors on both sides. You submit everything electronically and have the option to reply to the checklist email sent to you. Why could they not setup a similar process using an encrypted mail service. I have set these up for a lot of corporations. Change the website to show where in line you are. You are x of y in line. Or make it an endorsement on your DL. There are many ways that this process would be easier for the applicant and the DPS employees. They are making it difficult.

Re: "Waiting Room"
My friends, the eagle has landed. I received plastic in the mail today.
CHL class: 12/20/15
Online App, documents sent, confirmation received: 12/21/15
Fingerprints: 12/23/15
Status Change: 3/22/16
Plastic in hand: 3/23/16
For a grand total of 93 calendar days and 61 business days since my confirmation email. If I hadn't called my state rep and Gov Abbott, who knows how long it would have taken? I think that shaved off 2-3 weeks.
It's been real, folks. Y'all be safe out there!

I'm sorry but getting the rep involved has changed nothing. I was called once to be told " ma'am you called already and u have you wait. Ur app is in processing."ifpo238 wrote:They've called me at least 3 times since I got my state rep involved. Re: "Waiting Room"
Congratulations Sweat--I received a SECOND call from DPS today to let me know I had been approved and sent for printing. I know this one was a result of contact Rep Dukes office, because one of her staff members forwarded me an email from DPS stating that I had been approved and contacted. If you are past the 60 days, contact your Rep and ask them to intervene. It seems to speed things up.sweatmachine wrote:My friends, the eagle has landed. I received plastic in the mail today.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Wow! DPS RSD Ashley has been answering a lot of calls. She's got the double speak down! The business days vs calendar days and 6-8wks vs 10-12wks to receive license or notice of denial.
So basically, I've got another 13 BUSINESS DAYS to hear ANYTHING!!
I'm 78 days from app date, 73 from Cnf email, 71 from Fingerprints, and 69 from Fingerprint conf email!!
