I posted this elsewhere, but I'll add it here too.

I just called, and after the usual auto disconnect, the next call promoted a recording that they were closed.

I called again, same message, and the message states they are open till 7. I was calling at 6:45.

I'm going to assume they shut down the phones early for an all-hands-on-deck rush to get my app processed.

I'm at day 78. nothing yet. When they accepted my payment 89 days ago I was told "up to 6 weeks". I assumed that timeline would have some built in wiggle room. I'm trying to be patient, but its hard when people are getting plastic when they submitted 2 weeks after me, and my application hasn't even started processing. I understand it's just an overloaded government process and i guess they cant hire temp contractors to help out with the work load, but I feel like they should at least change their tune a bit and do a better job of explaining things. Saying they have no way to change the website seems like bull to me. Just post an update so people don't feel like they are being brushed off. Seeing some sort of attempt at customer service would be nice.

I am sure there are a number of reasons applications can get processed out of order, I suspect some processors are better than others. As for the 6 week time frame, I suspect that would be their normal time frame. I can tell you from a Systems Administrator perspective, it is really easy to change the wording on a web page. It's as simple a opening the site contents, make changes for that particular page, and then publish the changes. Adding updated status information would be much more difficult, but it mostly likely can be done.

The site used to give a really nice status (picture below). It would be nice if they improved upon that instead of getting rid of it.

If this is what I saw when I logged in online I wouldn't be posting here daily complaining, or trying to call them every few hours.

While many of us would still complain about the time, at lease we wouldn't be calling them about it.

What number did you call and do you have a link to check the status? I've tried though DPS and have made 3 online requests with only automated confirmation of my request and that it is under review but no actual response. When I've called they say due to heavy call volume you can't get through.

They will not respond to email requests through their system.

The phones are so busy it's rare to actually get through to anyone.

The website where you're supposed to be able to check status does not give you a status. https://txapps.texas.gov/txapp/txdps/chl/

Welcome to the machine. "Please allow sufficient time for processing."

I used, (512) 424-7293. I just kept trying and eventually it let me through. It took 2 or 3 tries and I called about 8:30am. Said there was a 17min wait, and took about 20.
