I know from talking to some guys at the gun store that even renewals were not necessarily being issued in the order that they were applied for. I guess that there is no reason to it?

I honestly don't know how the process these apps, but I can tell you I bothered them a lot. Not annoyingly but I did keep on them weekly to make sure no steps were missed or forgotten. From the moment my prints were submitted I called 2 day after and then on Monday and Fridays of each week til now. May be excessive but I do feel it may have played a part in how fast my license was processed.

Congrats, and thank you for making the decision to become an armed citizen. Next step: carry on.

Thank you! Feels good. Just got back from Buffalo Wild Wings, and picked up my order. Can't wait to carry more.

One thing, among many that I noticed while waiting from others posts is that there appears, at least sometimes, that there is no rhyme or reason as to why one person gets their plastic quick and another has to wait longer. Believe me I searched and tried to find a common denominator but I couldn't find any.

During the waiting I do feel there are two things that are important: 1. That they got "all" of your required documents (Note: It doesn't really appear there is any real difference time wise between email and regular mail) and 2. When your mailbox is empty, regardless of your disappointment, remember, you don't want to receive mail from DPS without plastic!

I've had mine for about 10 days now. It (carrying) is becoming more and more routine as the days pass. This weekend I look forward to going to the range because I want to practice and will continue to do so. I may have the authority to carry, but in the event I have to use it, I want to be as skilled as I can!

Just me saying! Congrats to all the new recipients! :tiphat:

Congrats again Kaijawn!

Based on your timeline (14 business days after fingerprints) I should be LTC by the end of next week. That's a good feeling. Though I certainly won't be surprised if it takes up to a couple weeks longer. Did you ever end up calling the DPS and asking for an update? Just curious as many people seem to call in. It probably doesn't usually help anything, but perhaps it makes a person feel like they're doing everything they can to help the process along. I might call next week if I don't see a status change....

I called in two days after my last check list items was submitted(Fingerprints) to make sure they had everything. Then called each Monday and Friday of each week. I feel like calling made the process go faster. Cause km seeing people that have a similar time line and are still waiting for the papers to be submitted to background.

I sent in my CHL-100 on September 19th and received confirmation on the 21st which was 21 days ago. I'm hoping my LTC comes this week but the website status hasn't changed and DPS hasn't responded to either of the two emails I've sent them asking for a status update. Maybe I'll call them if I don't get it in the next week or two.

I figured that I would go ahead and call in, because it can't hurt anything can it? So the recording says don't bother calling in unless it's been over 30 days since you sent your documents in, even for just a confirmation of documents received. I decided that I would just wait on the line for an answer. When they picked up, I asked if I should have received a confirmation that my documentation was received and they said "No." So I asked them if they received my fingerprints, and they looked up my DL# and said that they received my prints yesterday on the 11th.

I'm not sure why it took a week for them to receive my fingerprints, but I'm glad that I called and waited. Now that I know that they have my CHL-100 and my fingerprints I'll probably call back next week and see if they can give me an update on if/when they anticipate my background check running.

FYI, the particular person who answered my call sounded a little reluctant to help, but ended up helping me out anyway.
