New member...and the wait begins.

Post by bortaz »

Hi y'all, east Texan trapped in Rio Grande Valley here. Been reading for a while. Finally joined. My wife and I both attended CHL class last week, and submitted application and CHL100 form tonight. We have fingerprinting scheduled for 08/18/2015, so the mailbox stalking begins soon.

Welcome to the forum. There is a wealth of knowledge on here.

As a recommendation, use the time waiting to carry around your house. This will let you figure out what works and what doesn't and also to get used to having the weapon on your body. Then you wont feel as awkward when the time and plastic does come to carry outside

Another new member here....

Here is my timeline for a new CHL application:

CHL class - 07/19/2015
Finger Print - 07/21/2015
E-File - 07/21/2015

I have been checking 3 x a week for online status after 7/21 and always got that generic screen response where the only thing you can do is apply for an instructor license.

Yesterday, I emailed DPS thru the online contact us link. Today, when I check my status online I have new options like change address, etc...

What does this mean? Did I get approved?

Thanks guys.

Yep, sure does! Congratulations, and welcome to the forum! Glad to have you with us! :tiphat:

I'd say you'll have your license within 7 or 8 days! :thumbs2:

Thank you.

So i guess that email I sent yesterday gave someone a nudge at DPS to wake up and get their fingers tapping on the keyboard.

Time to stalk our hard working postal carriers who even delivers amazon packages on Sundays.

Take care y'all and keep the peace.

Still no word for me, submitted prints on 8/18. Nothing on the site except the instructor link. I know it hasn't been long, but I'm impatient. :smash:

The wait continues.

bortaz, I submitted all my stuff on 8/15 and got confirm on 8/17. No status change on the website but called today and they told me it was approved and going to printing. Maybe give them a call?

That's great. I think my problem is from the guys at the fingerprint place. He told me it could be 14 days before they submit the prints.

Checked the site today, and instead of the same old "apply for instructor" link, it now gives me the option to report lost or stolen license, change address, etc. hoping that means it's done. :)

wOOt! Plastic was in the mail today! Unfortunately, so was a summons to jury duty...guess I have to pay the piper.

My timeline:

CHL Class: 08/14/15
CHL-100 and App sent online: 08/15/15
Prints done: 08/18/15
Status changed on site: 09/05/15
Plastic in the mailbox: 09/05/15

13 business days from Prints to the Mailbox.

Went shooting with my wife, checked the mailbox on the way to the range...found license there. Shot a few 100 rds, then put the gun on my belt and went to dinner. Went through a busy line at Luby's, ate chicken, and no one noticed a thing...though I was a bit self-conscious and had to make myself not fiddle with the gun/shirt.

:thewave :fire :woohoo
