Where would you buy military once-fired brass from?
Hey all
I am talking with friends now about getting into the military surplus side of the business - reselling from that source. I plan on doing all the legwork, and they are strongly considering fronting the (huge) up-front cash investment. Many of these auctions are squarely 5-figure deals due to the size of the auction lots, so I certainly cannot do this solo.
If you wanted to buy military surplus once-fired still-crimped 5.56, 7.62, 9 or 40 brass - what companies would you buy from? I have looked into what it will cost to participate in the auctions. What I now need to do is research what the can realistically charge.
I'm going to post this in the various different forums I participate in. Sorry if I hit ya twice. :)
Thank you!

Just search brass. Its a auction site.
If you live near a base you might be able to get ahold of the drmo office. Not sure, but its worth a shot.

The GovLiq site is already where we are looking to source the brass. :)
What I am interested to learn is how many people actually go direct vs go through a middle-man. The auctions very frequently have $10,000-$50,000 lots of brass in them. I don't see many individuals pursuing that route. Even at the $3,000 - $10,000 level, that's a big commitment for an individual reloader. Most reloaders don't want to have to deal with 50,000 cases.
It's possible group buys might navigate this problem, but I have seen many group buys fall entirely apart.
That's why I am asking. I imagine most people who reload but don't or can't buy new brass (due to shortages) would go this route. (EDIT - meaning use a middle man)

The first place I would typically check would be Wideners.
However, they are currently out of everything.

Hey all
Well, I now have a good volume of brass too, so I am considering myself as promoted up to Afghanistan equivalent! hahahaha
Unfortunately, I do not yet have enough posts to list it for sale here. Bummer.

I'd check the shipping costs before ordering from there...teddy salad wrote:Afghanistan has some.

A few years ago, I got a BUNCH of brass and polished it until it was sparkling just because I wanted to.ZombieApoc wrote:Hey all

I dunno. Clean brass is like gold to be sure, but making it dirty is SO much better.
