No actual experience with this powder but I would say yes based on Hodgdon's web site. They do not list loads for the 308 with H1000. My chart shows it to be number 97 on the burn rate. Varget, W748 and Re15 are common powders for the 308 and they are numbers 72, 74 and 75 which is a long way from number 97.

does anyone know of a good powder for the .308 that meters well in a 550B? I picked up some IMR4064, but it looks like it wouldn't meter well at all.

W748 and BLC2 meter well in anything and you should be able to find load data for both in 308 at http://www.hodgdon.com. I use Re15 for 308 loads but not in my Dillon.

I picked up some BLC2 and it looks like it would meter great!
I also am looking at the us869 for 300 ultramag.
I didn't think I could find ball powder for these, I am happy I did!

AA 2230 works very well for .223 (obviously) but loads .308 very well.

It meters like a champ also.
