That's a major FAIL!
If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

No, his "model" wife as in she gets paid a lot of money to let people take pictures of her. But I'm guessing you knew that.

I found the comment "a gun like that isn't used for hunting" humorous. Wonder what they think an ar is used for?

A "model wife", just like a "model home" comes with all the upgrades. Crown molding, granite counter-tops, upgraded appliances, etc.

:iagree: Yep - that's the line that jumped out at me. It's a mind-set that I just can't understand.

Two days and they didn't notice they were missing the gun?

Perhaps the New Yorker was going to throw up over excitement?

Why can't I ever find good stuff like this? The only surprise I get in rental cars is stale smoke.

In another blond moment, Martha MacCallum, who is even cuter than Ms. Tannehill, described this as "an automatic rifle" on Fox News this morning.

Come on, Martha!
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

To be fair, I think Martha is reading from copy on a teleprompter. I think

I find it surprising the rental car company did not find it.

In all fairness, anything that resembles an ar-15 on TV inherently becomes fully automatic. In fact, I need to see if it works on mine :evil2:

Finder's keeper's!

What is the legality of retaining a firearm that you came into possession by luck or legal/legitimate circumstance without specific knowledge of who the owner is (like when you find one in the trunk of your rental car, left in a bathroom stall or in the inside of a home/property that you have purchased.)?

Are you obligated by law to try to find the owner or turn it in to the police? It has never found anything as cool as a gun but I am just curious.

I realize the ethical issues along with the pitfalls like the gun may have been used in a crime or reported stolen.
Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.
There is no safety in denial. When seconds count the Police are only minutes away.
Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?
