I don't know about you guys, but I keep this gut because it is tactical...keeps my holster down on draw and my heater concealed!

Re: Lesson learned after losing weight
That's happened before. I can't find the thread it's so far back but someone 'killed' their holster by drawing and firing through it. The holster came out with the gun, and the poster was doing rapid fire defensive drills. I feel sorry he lost his holster as it met an untimely death, but it was kinda funny at the time.

How can someone "shoot through" their holster? Any decent holster covers the trigger guard. If the holster covers the guard, there would be no way to pull the trigger with the holster still attached.joe817 wrote:That's happened before. Have you considered something without a clip, or perhaps with a "J" clip?labrat1001001 wrote:By the by, my holster is a Don Hume IWB clip on.

Re: Lesson learned after losing weight
I would like to suggest that "draw from holster, presenting and firing first shot" is a good "Dry Fire Drill" that can be practiced every day without using a single round of ammo.
There are several threads on this forum and numerous pages on the internet that detail safe procedures for Dry Fire Practice.

Reasonable gun control is hitting your target with the first shot.

Re: Lesson learned after losing weight
A friend of my Dad's taught me this one when I was 13 or so:
Make sure your gun is unloaded (!!!) and holster it. Pick a TV show that you like, then choose a character that appears frequently. (Miami Vice was on prime time back then so I picked Crockett.) Sit/stand there and watch the show. Every time you see your character, react, draw, get a good site picture and squeeze the trigger, trying to keep a good sight picture on the character until you hear the click. Re-holster and repeat each time that person reappears on the screen! It get's hard, because they frequently flip back and forth during a dialog!
That reminds me, I need to practice more!

Or...you can get a holster that hooks up under your belt in so that it doesnt come up when you pull.

The problem is more about the holster than the weight loss.dihappy wrote:Or...you can get a holster that hooks up under your belt in so that it doesnt come up when you pull.

Am I the only one that took away the lesson as "Don't Lose Weight!"
I don't fear guns; I fear voters and politicians that fear guns.
