I've always been if the belief that .45 is better than 9mm. But 15 is better than 8.
Re: anyone still carry a 1911?
I’d carry a 1911 but the weight / capacity doesn’t balance out for me. A 40 oz. gun with 8 rounds that weighs more than a Glock 17 that holds 17 rounds when loaded just doesn’t make sense unless it’s what you like. I fault nobody for carrying a 1911. For some they work for them, for others not so much.

Peace of mind is knowing you have 13rds of .45acp! My P12 is my daily carry and P14 is what I carry at work

Yes, although I seldom used to carry spare mags and now I almost always do.

Re: anyone still carry a 1911?
Yes, I still carry a 1911. Sometimes it is a full size all steel and but most of the time now, it is an aluminum frame commander. I do carry two extra magazines as well. I have high capacity 9 mm pistols and shoot them well but, given a choice, I prefer the 1911 in 45 ACP.
I hear a lot about having all the rounds that a 9mm brings to the table but the big city SWAT guys I have talked with all carry 1911s in 45 ACP (one guy carries a Glock full size 45 ACP but he has huge hands). They all say the same thing, that the bad guys just go down faster when hit with the 45.

Yep, usually and always on Sunday mornings.
It is an issue with confidence, I have confidence in my ability with my 1911s.

I carried an M1911A1 when I was in the 1st Cavalry Division. Now I carry an S&W M&P9 M2.0 5" 17+1 with two spare 16 round magazines. I shoot the M&P much better than I ever did the M1911.

Re: anyone still carry a 1911?
The wife & I took a Labor Day ride today up to Wichita Falls and had breakfast at a place called Sunrise & Shine Omelette Grill. I highly recommend the place!
Anyway, I carried the GC-Trophy in my shoulder rig (8+1) with 2 spare 8-round mags on the other side. So, 25 rounds of .45 JHP . I don't carry a 1911 regularly because the only holster I have for one is the shoulder rig. I'm hoping to rectify that before the end of the year thanks to Jusme sending me a link to S&S Leather Works. That Colt Competition I got a little while back and I tried a few grips, but ended up liking the OEM blue & black V10 grips. After noticing a couple makers using different colored thread that really accents some holsters I wondered about finding one that uses blue thread that could match the grips. At one of our NT breakfasts Jusme thought he remembered one and found the link and sent it to me. I've e-mailed them a couple of questions and if we can work the details out I might have a new belt, holster, and mag carrier for Christmas. Then I will definitely carry a 1911 more often than my Glock. I'll be shorting myself 21 rounds doing so, but maybe I'll start carrying an extra box on the bike. I already have an extra box of 50 JHP in the truck.
I still don't get to carry anything as much as I'd like since work doesn't allow it and I'm not going to leave it in my truck or the bike that I ride more often than drive the truck.
